    If I understand you, you bought this copier without a hard drive?? What make/model of hard drive are you attempting to load system software to?

    On the 3200/3220 series you can get into the (IFT) and put that Maxtor serial number in that file. If you need instructions just do a search for it in this forum.

    if you are not a tech familiar with SST & Printer Firmware , Call for Canon Service

    E602 is a Hard Drive Failure//

    in your case -DOSDEV5= Reserved= E602-0901
    09
    01
    is = The partition DOSDEV5 is faulty.>
    Device error: sector, write/abort, other HDD access (driver) error

    it may be possible to recover using the machine's service mode, Copier/Function/System/Chk-Type, setting it to clear a certain partition number, then selecting Copier/Function/System/HD-Clear. After selecting the hard drive partition to clear (setting Chk-Type) and selecting HD-Clear and pressing OK, it will be necessary to turn the copier/printer main switch off then on again.
    Once the power is cycled the hard drive will begin to rebuild the partition selected and will take an extra minute or two to come to ready.
    * For fault: xx09 use Chk-Type 5

    u cal also try this> power off printer> hold down 1 & 9 key, while holding keys, power up printer, hold keys down until u see the white blocks dropping (this is a DEFRAG of HDD) , takes about 30min.

    u may get lucky / if not u will need a new HDD & a format of HDD inside printer, then load Printer Firmware all within the Canin SST Program

    Did u try what I posted

    try this> power off printer> hold down 1 & 9 key, while holding keys, power up printer, hold keys down until u see the white blocks dropping (this is a DEFRAG of HDD) , takes about 30min.

    if HDD is bad or going bad u can only format it while inside printer using SST & trying to reload printers firmware/

    when installing a new or refurbished HDD > U still need SST & Printer Firmware using the firmwares Format file
