    Canon IR 6000 Connectivity?

I just purchased a factory rebuilt Canon IR 6000 with booklet maker.
It has the card to interface with a computer in it.
No software or wires to hook up to computer came with it.
What software and wires do I need to make this work?
Where can I purchase neede items?
Do I need a technician to do this or can I do it myself?
    Thank you.

It would be best first to set up a small network. Buy yourself a router, set up your PC on to the router. Connect the machine to the router with a patch cable ,CAT5 ethernet cable. You can buy these components anywhere where they sell computers. Not sure how your computer skills are but if you try these suggestions just post back and I or someone will help you. Its a simple operation, with the right guidance you should be able to set up your 6000 to print.

My pc is within 10 feet of the copier.
Is it ok to go hard wired on the router? or is wireless necesseary?
    Thanks,

K.I.S.S. principle comes to mind. Make your life simpler by using a cable at this point to connect the copier to the router. Network settings for the copier are made under Additional Functions>System Settings>Network Settings. You can configure the copier to talk to your existing network there. Just be sure to turn the copier off, then turn back on after any session of changes made to your copier network settings. Changes only become effective after a reboot of the copier. It will also take a couple minutes for the network on the copier to become available after the reboot.

yes, like screwtape said it's simple operation.
but, if you dont know about computer networking, well...

    This are what you need:
    1. A computer as workstation/printing to machines
    2. Straight type ethernet cable
    3. Network hub/switch.

or you can also directly connect your computer to the machine with cross ethernet cable.

After all set, you need to configure the IP Address of the machines. Then you have to install ir6000 driver in you computer.

If its working, congratulation!. Now you have 60 ppm B/W laser printer
O.. I forgot, you also now have 60 ipm B/W scanner

Thumbs up Good News / Bad News"

    OK,
    Good News...
    Here's what I did,

Directly hooked up the IR 6000 networking device to my desktop
using an ethernet wire and printer cable. (no router)
Downloaded CANON PCL Driver Installer / Postscript Driver Installer disc.
I can now print from my desktop pc to the IR 6000.
    GREAT!

    Bad News...
Now I'm having trouble printing the monthly newsletters I get through email into booklet format.

    It's a 12 page booklet,
    finished size of 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
    which equals 3 sheets of 8 1/2" x 11"
    folded, collated and saddle stitched.

They're coming out 4 pages on a sheet, 2 sides and NOT saddle stitched.

Any suggestions on how to set this project up?
Thanks for all the help so far,
    Dana

    A few questions:

1, What OS are you printing from: XP, Windows 7, Vista, Mac. etc...

2). What application are you printing from, and version: PowerPoint 2003, Acrobat 8, etc...

3). Which driver are you using: PCL5, PCL6, PostScript, etc...
