    Tips on canon models

I want to add everyday issues and fixes.
This would sort of be a tip thread where everybody's welcome to add certain issues and unique fixes.

Here is a simple one that most of us canon techs are familiar with.
This was a IR3245i. This can aslo occur on IR2270,3570,4570

The infamous E007-xxxx. The cause was> The film drifted tearing at the edges. I replaced the fixing film.

Jam 108 delay to the delivery sensor PS14

    IR2270,3570,4570.
Jam 0108 delay to the delivery sensor PS14 coming out of the fuser unit.
Check you flapper delivery and the damper pads. After a while the damper pads get sticky and cause the flapper to get stuck.
Circle in orange are the damper pads. The circle in blue is a small spring. If that spring is missing, you will get duplex jams with jam code 0107.

Please keep this thread going. I've got a dozen or so of this series of machine in the field. All I've had to do was the basics: Fuser, Drum, Feed rollers.

I think the most interesting was a vertical path jamming issue 0105, 0201, from tray #1 only. Just cleaning the vertical path rollers seemed to help. On my next vist I was planning to replace the vertical rollers, one-way gears, and vertical path flags. ~350K on the machine. Does this fit with anything you've seen?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

We've been upgrading those 3570/4570 but, I've done plenty of modifying with those parts you mention. Your on the right track I must say. Upgrading firmware help's as well. Here are some of those upgraded parts.

iRC 3200/3220/2620- TIP FOR Minimizing JAM Code 0107 and/or Error Code E020

During normal machine usage, it is possible that the 42T gear part number FU3-0546-000 mounted in the
Swing Gear Assembly, part number FG6-9662-000, could become damaged due to high stress in turning the
Intermediate Transfer Belt. When this occurs, JAM code 0107 (fixing delivery sensor PS25 delay jam)
and/or error code E020 (drum/developer fault) may occur. To alleviate this problem, the material of both
    42T gears has been changed.

The Swing Gear Assembly will now be called the Swing Plate Unit, part number FM3-3775-000 and only
one 42T gear FU7-0403-000 can be replaced. The other gear is pressed in and cannot be replaced separately. If both gears
are damaged a new Swing Plate Unit must be replaced. If only the driving 42T gear is damaged it can alone be replaced.

    Good stuff, great idea.

On Friday I worked on am ir7105(5mil, V2 finisher) with 2 issues. Delay jam before the hole punch and varying holes, they were walking around 1-3mm on the paper. I found that the very 1st entrance guide to the finisher where the paper makes its 1st bend upward had a lot of caked on toner, similar to fuser entrance guide toner buildup/jams. Then the holes just varied in the crosstrack (sub-scanning?) from one drawer and replacing the feed tires fixed that.

Is there a way to replace the vertical path rollers without having to remove the entire assembly?
