Check your dc controller, check your connectors and pins. Another thing, when you replaced the laser did you change the values for that laser under service mode. When it still throws this code up intermittently , is it the same sub-code?

Yes the error code is always the same. Wer are Ricoh/KM dealers but we have 1 canon on our books- this one that always causes problems. I didn't change the laser values as I wasn't aware that i should have. A canon guy gave me the info on the error code and a spare second hand laser that I saw work in another machine.

Check and/or replace the fuse PCB.

First >>as SCREWTAPE quoted/ put in Laser Values from door specs
    .
if same code follow below: try easy stuff first

all laser units are the same in here/
    1. Swap the affected laser unit with others.
    2. Check whether or not the sub code of E110 will be changed.
    - If the sub code is changed, the laser unit is faulty. So, replace it with a new one.
    - If the sub code is not changed, it is possible that the DC controller PCB is faulty.

To try and clear an E110 try the following procedure:

1)Remove all 4 color drum units
    2)Close the front cover
    3)Go to the service mode(level 1): Copier>Function>Laser>L-ADJ-O
    4) Press the OK key to execute the laser adjust operation
    5) Press End.
    6) After adjustment is complete put the drum units back into the copier.

The DC controller uses a photo diode in the Laser Unit to automatically measure the light quantity when each laser emits its minimum light quantity. This operation is used to compensate for the time the Laser lights during minimum light quantity emissions. Each Laser (Y/M/C/K) is adjusted in sequence.

it could also be a bad Fuse Pcb

*****Machine had constant E110 0110 (could be XX10).

    Solution :
The Dc fuse pcb was bad because the 5v output on the fuse board was 2.2v instead of 5v (possible bad relay on board).
To check this, measure the voltage on the Dc fuse board connector J71 pin 5 (brown wire) or Dc Controller connector J106 pin 1. If the voltage is below 5v suspect a bad Dc fuse pcb.
Dc fuse pcb part number : FG3-3020-000 (IRC3200/3220)

As this is an intermittent problem I'm very confused, I'm leaning to whatever controls the laser units as the error code relates to this and when i dont get the code i get the strange coloured lines!

Just followed your 6 point procedure and it worked a treat- thankyou very much. If it occurs again I'll go for the fuse pcb cheers for part number
