imagePASS C1 on ir c3220 pissing me off

Got a C1 to add to a copier only Canon we brought in has the 70-01C boot rom. Set intface to 3 hard boot - found the previous user had established their own PW instead of Fiery.1 - guess they thought they were protecting state secrets.

Got another C1 as number 1 is useless, installed and powered up. Pressed printer on control panel after waiting 5 minutes went to initial screen (not "setup" that takes you to Fiiey login) where there was one page with as I reacall 4 or 5 buttons. INitilaized button took me to "printer performing config mode" on bottom of control panel where it stayed with green light flashing for 45 minutes.

Went to power down and now when I press printer at top of control it goes to "waiting if it doesn't move in a few minutes check connections in back and cables" (which are all good crossover in top port, ethernet in bottom, scsi in between them) and after 10 minutes it just goes back to normal copy state.

Any advice appreciated. We are Xerox color mostly here and our Canon guy we use on contract is awol and not real good with color units anyhow.

have u ever loaded imagePass firmware before ??/ if not- get a manual
only way to bypass that Fiery password/ need to re-load C1 Firmware.
difference between C1 and C2 below it: techs' mix um up.
    when posting issues

    do a MMI clr/ re set> Copier > Option > Int-Face > IMG-CONT to 0 >power off both> power up C1/then power 3220/ re set IMG-CONT to 3
    / power off C1/ then 3220/ re power- C1 then 3220

imagePASS-C1 requires that an Open Interface Board be installed in the Color imageRUNNER C3200.
This PCB is included with the imagePASS-C1 and is also installed in the slot on the Main Controller underneath the Ethernet PCB, have seen the removed .

The Universal Send functionality of the Color imageRUNNER C3200 is enabled by use of the Color
Universal Send Kit-A1P. The Resolution Switching Board-A1 is also REQUIRED for the Universal Send
    functionality.

the issue is can;t get to "run setup"

I gave the first Fiery back to supplier and got a replacement - I did not want to mess with wiping hard drive etc etc.

The MMI clear - is that your fix for the one I have now that goes to "Function" then you go to screen where 5 choices are available (none of which are run setup) I believe it begins with "diagnostics, then initialize, etc) I bypass that and do nothing then control panel shows "printer performing config mode settings"

which it has been doing for 50 minutes now!

I have the scsi card, crossover cable, ethernet to bottom of CI for network, and scsi cable form copier to C1 - the cables are all good and connectded properly

were u in *additional functions/system settings/network settings on control panel or thru Printer tab ??

on the C1 check if any of the LED'S are on/ normal mode is all off-

when u don't see run set up/ it has been done already/
        start fresh>
Copier > Function>MISC-P>P-PRINT/prints out service mode settings
        then do a MN-CON CLR / re-load P-Print settings if needed
re set IMG-CONT to 3/ power off C1/ then 3220/ re power- C1 then 3220
you should be able to now do a complete run set up from PRINTER TAB/FUNCTION

          leds

only leds are Ethernet in (not crossover Ethernet) indicators.

Followed set to 3 interface power down C1 then c3220 then power up c1 then c3220 went to print button and doing the wait a moment to nowhere stuff - then exited it and went back to normal mode without doing anything at all.

going to try your mn con clr now

did the mn con clr now it asks if I want to go into configuration mode - which choices do not include run setup - it went away on its own to button that says printer status I press that and back into wait 10 minutes and it retuns to normal copy mode

Confirmed YFN serial number it is a C1

Where do I re-enter pprint values I have not checked that as yet to see if I lost them

If you want to get into the run setup on the fiery, turn off/on the power switch in the C1. On the control panel go to the printer tab where you should see "...wait". If it is in the diagnostic menu just hit "boot normal" or w/e it says. After about 30-45 seconds it will pop-up with "enter setup?", hit yes. Some have the reset timer set @ 30 seconds so If it goes back to the copier display just get back to the printer screen quick. This will only display about 5 seconds so if you miss it or it has been 2-3 minutes and nothing is happening just reboot and try again.
If all you can access is the run diagnostics menu and it just locks up when you try to boot up or get into run setup you will have to reload system software. If it hasn't gotten anywhere in 10 minutes its safe to say it ain't gonna and give up.
From the sounds of it, "performing printer .." and just hangs, that looks like a software reload to me.

There is a password retrieval tool for Fierys. http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/co...eval-tool.html

Just curious, I only have irc 3200's with C1's. Whats different about a irc3220 or C2?

                    C1 SET UP
At the Control Panel, press [Printer]tab.
                    Press [Printer Status/Settings].
When setting it up, the password input screen is displayed.
When the following password is input, you can enter
                    a setup screen. Fiery.1

In response, the machine will automatically show the
Settings menu. Be sure to at least select the following
and make the appropriate settings in the indicated order:
[Server Setup], [Network Setup], and [Printer
Setup]. For more information, see Configuration and
                    Setup on the User Documentation.

once you have made the various settings
under [Server Setup], you will be shown a screen asking
you if you want to store the settings. Select [yes]
so that the system will be stored in memory. Unless
you have made appropriate settings in the correct order
and saved them, you will not be able to go on to
                    the next item.

                    Making Server Settings:
Make the appropriate settings including the name
                    of the server.

                    Make Network Settings:
Make the appropriate settings including port,
                    protocol, and service.

                    Making Printer Settings:
Make the appropriate settings including print
                    queue.
Select [close] on the Settings menu. In response, the
                    system will restart automatically.

Print out a test page and a settings page as follows to
make sure that all settings have correctly been made
on the machine and its host machine and that all connections
                    are normal:
                    1) Press (=>) displayed at upper right on the LCD of
                    the connecting device.
                    2) At the Control Panel, press [Print].
                    3) Press [Printer Status/Settings].
Make the following selections on the LCD:function>
                    print page>test page/configuration.

                      thnaks for the help!

Got the C1 going thanks for taking the time to reply.

D_L_P I believe the only difference between a C1 and C2 is the motherboard is probably a bit more robust in a C2 v. the C1, i.e. faster chip.

The copiers are identical with the 3220 a generation newer.

                        Thanks
I haven't ever come across a C2 but that helps. I found another thread here and the 3220 has meap, other then that they are the same. One of those things I knew but forgot.

C2 has a LED display on it,C1 don't. When you shut the copier down,it shuts down the Imagepass also on a C2...C1 has a switch on it.
