Have tried copier at default no change. PCL5 driver. Checked printer properties and preferences. No fiery connected.
What program are they printing from?
It sounds like they are using a non-MS program to print since you are getting the "load paper" message. It is probably asking for a certain type of paper, which you will have no access to change at the program so you have to change it at the copier.
For example, in Meditec (or any DOS program for that matter) say the page setup is like this:
size=letter
type=plain
tray=1
When the job arrives at the Canon it asks for letter/plain/tray 1. Most of those programs were written for HP where tray 1 is the bypass and tray 2 is the main supply, but in a Canon tray 1 is tray 1 and the bypass is the bypass. Bypass is not an option in those programs and this job would print from drawer 1.
What we did as a workaround is this:
size=letter
type=color
tray=0
Tray 0 is auto select, and telling it type "color" will make it look for any drawer with that type loaded. Then you just load the form into the bypass and tell it it is color paper and it prints fine. Getting in touch with the person who setup the page setup in the program was not easy as they were in another state. If they have the type=form, the copier has nothing similar so you just have to use trial and error. There is an auto continue feature which you can turn on. But we need to know what program they are printing from.
And no I don't think he's trying to transfer text to the form in the byass aka variable data printing.
When you go to print from windows and select the bypass as the source, it pulls the paper out of the cassette instead of the bypass.
what happens when u print from one of the browsers/ i.e.> firefox/ie8/
here is another test/ temporally disable cassettes for printing in service mode /
APS 'Auto Paper Selection' is automatically set to On by default for all cassettes. Disabling a cassette for Auto Paper Selection will allow you to specify Auto in the print driver(s) and prevent the copier from pulling paper from the disabled cassette. If you need to print from that cassette, you must specify the cassette or drawer number in the print driver. To disable the APS/ADS for a specific cassette on the GP Series, do the following:
1) Press the Additional Functions key.
2) Hit Custom Common Settings.
3) Select the Drawer Eligibility icon.
4) Select the Printer Icon.
5) Go to the Cassette where the special paper is located and select Off.
6) Press OK, then Press Done.
To disable the APS/ADS for a specific cassette in the imageRUNNER and iR series, do the following:
1) Press the Additional Functions key.
2) Select the Common Settings option.
3) Scroll until you see the option for Drawer Eligibility for APS/ADS.
4) Depending on which model imageRUNNER being set, some of the following options are available for selection: Copy, Printer, Mailbox, Fax, and Other.
5) Once the selection of Copy, Printer, Mailbox, Fax, or Other is made, go to the cassette where the special paper is located and select Off.
6) Press OK, then Press Done.
After u disable cassettes for Print/ load paper in bypass try to send a job from PC to it / report back what happens
if u have MS WORD/ run this test -in this you should always in print /Options... select>button and make sure the Background Printing check box is disabled/ also disable the collate check box/ put paper in bypass/select Bypass or MF tray / report back
can't remember but do u have this setting below on ir3030-
If this is set to Off, it will not disable the Stack Bypass, but will allow the print driver to determine the size without generating a load paper error.
To Set 'Use Stack Bypass' to Off:
1) Select Additional Functions.
2) Select Common Settings and Press OK.
3) Scroll to Use Stack Bypass and select OK.
4) Select Off and then press OK.
