    Error E0004-003 on iR-c3200

I got a call from a customer with this error code. I realized it was the fuser and proceeded to repair it and reset the code; however the code did not reset. I then replaced the fuser, but the code still does not reset. Did it burn the DC-Controller also?

No u have to remove the left side vertical guide unit and clean the sensor

fixing/feeding unit closed sensor PS5 is dirty

    DoorSw_1..jpg
Open the upper left vertical pass door and remove the side cover and vertical pass door.
    DoorSw_2..jpg
Remove the upper left vent cover.
    DoorSw_3..jpg
Remove the four screws and the connectors for the vertical pass assembly and lift the unit out of the machine.
    DoorSw_4..jpg
Note how the fixing unit connector 'A' (at the top rear of the fixing assy) makes electrical contact with connector 'B', and how it also is used to actuate the fixing unit open/closed switches msw5 & msw6 'C'.
    DoorSw_5..jpg
    DoorSw_6..jpg
    DoorSw_7..jpg
Clean the sensor PS5, also check the switches for continuity using your volt/ohm meter, replace one or both if necessary and adjust the leaf spring actuators so that switches msw5 and msw6 deactuate BEFORE the fixing feeding connector breaks contact when the drawer is pulled out. The switches should actuate and deactuate pretty close to the same time.
    DoorSw_8..jpg
Be sure the power is removed from the machine prior to this procedure and make sure to clean any toner and paper dust from the connectors, switches, and sensors of the fixing feeding drawer assembly prior to reassembling.

they also have new sensors for here

Check this also > E004, Sub Code 0003

After turning "On" the power switch an E004, Sub Code 0003 is displayed. The machine will not come to a "Ready" state and you can not enter into Service Mode.

it was found that 5v was missing on connectors J64 pin 5 (DC Controller Supply) and J68 pin 3 Duplex Driver PCB. The 5v supplies from the DC Power Supply were good. Replaced the DC Fuse PCB (FG3-3020-000)and Duplex Driver PCB(FG6-9671-000). The Duplex Driver PCB was faulty and blowing FU27 on the Fuse PCB. This 5v is the supply for the DC Controller and Fixing Unit.

hmmm, you are right Teckat, I do remember cleaning the sensor. Well, I think I will replace the whole plate tomorrow.
I see you have a lot of experience on Canon; thanks for your help.

I never had to replace any of those components, a shot of air from the can has always cleared up my issues with it... Easiest way for me to have diagnosed this issue was to open the left side up, for jam clearance or inspection of components, and have it pop an error when it should not have.

i have seen toner encrusted on some sensors/& actuators, if copier is in a poor location,or jammed against the wall/with no circulation & poor maintenance- both switches have to close at same time, if it is off slightly & and they don't =E004.

I got, fellows. It turned out that the fuser was old and had been rebuilt at leastt once and the wiring was so old it melted together at the ties causing a short circuit that burned the fuse board; I replaced the fuser and the board and... voila!. I think I can repair the board if I can figure out which fuse to replace?

    FUSE PCB

When an over current or a short to ground occurs in the machine such as a motor binding or a wire shorted to the frame of the machine, a fuse on the DC-fuse PCB should open to prevent damage to the machine. The DC-fuse PCB is located in the rear lower left of the machine mounted on the DC-power supply.

The fuse, voltage, connectors, and the destination of the voltage is listed below.

    Forget about the fuse board.
    Be wise and toss it.
