Sorry, my bad.
I was thinking that the imagePASS C2 had System 5 or older on it.
Must be because I've seen very few C2s, almost all C1s.
Turns out it runs 7e, so it's compatible.
Good catch!

THAT WAS IT !
A few months ago we had added a second 256MB DIMM; since we had just gotten the machine, we didn't know this was why it would flake out intermittently.
As soon as I removed that second DIMM and rebooted, the copier/printer immediately recognized the controller !
You guys are top-notch.
THANK YOU !

Shit! The thing's again showing the "Check Network" message...
After removing the second DIMM, I had also reset the BIOS by shorting the battery connectors. Everything was working fine.
I then reconfigured the date and time and a few minor configuration items.
This morning, when we brought the machine out of sleep mode, it was back with that "Check Network".
I think it might need a fresh installation from the System Software CDs, but it seems we've lost the little buggers.
Any idea where I can fin and download these Canon imagePass-C2System Software CDs ?

Are you seeing this message from the printer tab.
Or.
Are you seeing the message on the bottom left of the GUI LCD. (control panel)
And yes.
Why would you short the battery!
