hi all,

how to save all the address book email and fax no to CSV file from canon ir4080. we need to transfer it to kyocera machine?

is there any software needed to do it?

No software is required, from a pc on the same network, type in the IP of the copier in a browser window such as Internet Explorer, this will bring up the RUI page of the copier. In the left column at the bottom, I believe it states "additional functions", in there is import\export. Choose that, select fax address book, select proper book, export as CSV. Choose the desktop of the pc as your destination and you can now easily harvest your file.

The extension .CSV is for Microsoft Office Excel files...it will work for the Kyocera(junk)..i've worked on them

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that Canon machines could only export the address books as .abk or .ldif files.

Both are text only, but neither is a .csv.

Its a ABK data file not a CSV.

I've never messed around importing anything into any other vendor besides canon.

You are correct...only print logs n stuff can be exported as CSV from Canon RUI,but others can be converted

you can back up the mailboxes to a shared folder on a computer and then later restore them on the machine. /


option backs up the mailbox name, password, and also the contents of the mailbox. Perform the following steps to set up this option:
1. From Remote User Interface, select Additional Functions.
2. Select Custom Settings.
3. Select Backup/Restore Settings.
4. Select Backup Destination Settings and enter the settings as follows:

HOST IP ADDRESS: \\COMPUTER_NAME_OR_IP_ADDRESS\shared_folder_name.
FILE PATH: path to the folder within the share (blank if sending to root of shared folder).
USER NAME: enter a valid user name that has write privileges to the host that you are sending to.
PASSWORD: enter the valid password for the user that you have entered above.


5. After setting up the destination settings then you can use the backup option to backup the mailboxes to your computer and then the restore option to restore it on the machine.

NOTE: It is possible to schedule mailbox backup jobs and to perform differential backups on certain models.

Thanks for confirming - I haven't needed to do this for quite some time.

I believe that if you export the address books as a "Custom Format", you will get .ldif files.

There is a handy freeware utility, called Dawn 5.2 (or 5.3), that can convert an .ldif file to .csv.

I'm sure that the .csv would need to have the fields "massaged" so that they import into the Kyocera correctly.

Kyocera Mita has a tool to import .csv files; I would think that it's on their public and / or dealer sites.
