IR C2620 DADF-K1 Jams on the the third document every time

Rollers look great, the first and second feeds are really crisp. It stops with a missfeed on the third document with the LE about an inch onto the glass. The document belt is hard to advance by hand but I cannot see anything wrong with the drives. I am not familiar with this model and am having trouble figuring out how it comes apart also. Any help would be greatly appreciated

there are two small pick-up rollers/ one large feed roller/ and a separation pad that sits under feed roller/
the sep pad is your issue= they become flat and worn & slick/ if u never changed before/ contact a Canon tech to show you/

there is a dip switch procedure on DF Controller to release pressure and make pad removal easy
/ if u try to remove without release, it is difficult to position back in correct spot

Teckat types faster than I can ;-)

You have picked a real fun one,,, Not! Get used to working on this abomination.

    here it is in detail:

Place document feeder upright, remove 2 screws and panel covering feeder board.
Place bit switches 3,5,6 in the on position and press the switch button.
Lower the document feeder and the feeder will lower into the feed position.
Open left side cover of the doc feeder, and remove 2 screws and black guide.
Remove the white grooved roller from the separation pad holder.
Remove the 2 screws and while holding down the pad, pull the pad holder assembly out,
this normally is somewhat of a struggle.
Pay close attention to the position of the feeder lifter mechanism on the left side.
Remove the white clip that is sticking up at an angle from this area.
Slide back the drive collar (to the left) that is slid over the shaft of the feeder mech.
Remove the feeder assembly (it is sholdered on its bushings) and replace the rollers.
In reverse order rebuild the feeder, playin close attention to the lifter mechanism,
to make sure it will lift the feeder assembly at rest.
Place a new separation pad in the black holder, don't forget the white grooved roller.
Place switches from first step back to off position.
Shove a single sheet of paper under the lowered feed roller assembly and press start,
or simply turn copier Off/On to reset position of entry roller.

You probably saw the feed roll/sep pad comes out the left door and everything else will come out the bottom.

I think you are on the right track with the belt being hard to advance. Take it out and see if you can find what is binding it up.

I would try the feed / separation rebuild before going after the feed belt. The feed belt has never caused me any problems, but I cannot count the number of times I have had to rebuild the feed/sep. The parts never make expected life.

If that does not resolve your issue, then pursue the feed belt...

I've worked on a ton of these...MrFixIt is right. Those parts never ever make expected life. Love Canon machines but this is one of their worst feeders. What a dog!

Check the flag arm to see its broken at the end. I've seen this cause jamming and feed issues. Also check the height.

3 Paper feed related units > 3.1 Removing the separation pad )
    1) Fit the separation roller into the pickup
unit, being careful of the position of the
    bearing [1].
    D11..JPG
Slide the coupling in the direction of the
arrow shown so that the notch [1]
meshes with the spring pin [2].
    D12..JPG
Lower the separation holder [1] and
    slide in the stopper [2].

    The stopper should be attached
    from above the separation roller
    holder lever.
    4) Move the stopper slightly up and down
to check that it is properly in the separation
    roller coupling groove.

    Make sure that the separation
roller holder [1] is below the
    pickup roller joint [2].
