IR2020 software upgrade SST error

I am trying to upgrade software on an IR2020, but keep getting error 11 on SST - slelected IR2020, connected MF7200. Does anyone know how to change the model # on the machine? I know this machine was sold 3rd party by Canon, but don't know original manufacturer.

technician is trying to flash the imageRUNNER 2016i / 2020i. 'iR2020' is selected in the Service Support Tool.

When the Service Support Tool is connected to the imageRUNNER 2016i / 2020i copier, a MF7200 mismatch error displays in the Service Support Tool.

The mismatch error is being displayed because the incorrect system software or firmware was selected in the Service Support Tool. 'iR2020' should only be selected when flashing the imageRUNNER 2016 / 2020 models. In order to flash the imageRUNNER 2016i / 2020i models, you must register and select 'MF7200_iR2020i' in the Service Support Tool.

The 'MF7200_iR2020i' system software and firmware can be registered from the appropriate 'iR2016i_2020i...' folder on the System Software CD/ or the Canon Support Site . Once registered in the Service Support Tool, it will display under model 'MF7200_iR2020i'.

Firmware is now available on Canon Site v65.01 (2020/2016)/

The following modules must be installed from a PC connected to the copier via a USB cable using the Service Support Tool:

- System (main controller) *
- Boot (boot program)
- PCL (PCL printer kit -J1)

* The main controller also controls the reader.

To flash the Finisher -U1 (Fin_U1), you must connect the PC to the finisher via a RS232C straight cable and the Downloader PCB (FY9-2034) using the Service Support Tool.


To enter Download Mode on the imageRUNNER 2020 / 2016 Series:

1. Hit Additional Functions, 2, 8, and Additional Functions to enter Service Mode.
2. Press the + or - key to scroll through the Service Mode options.
3. Scroll to '#DOWNLOAD'.
4. Hit the OK key.

Just to Add on/
The types of firmware that can be upgraded by means of the SST for the imageRUNNER 2016(i)/2020(i)
are system, Boot ROM, and PDL. The interface that SST supports is USB. SST cannot upgrade the DC controller software and the FAX firmware. When such boards require to be upgraded, replace them with new ones.
Note: When upgrading the above-mentioned types of firmware, use SST of version 3.21 or later. This machine does not support upgrading by means of a USB memory device.

Problem was 2020 software instead of 2020i. After having SST search the CD again, correct software was registered and loaded. THANKS

there are no CD's/
u either call a Canon Authorized Service center for a trained tech to update/and or repair your printer firmware
or make a deal in this forum with one of the posters-
u need Printer Firmware/SST Program/ & Knowledge on how to use it
