To add to the LPR command, .pdf files will only print if you have the PSv3 option on the copier or Fiery, PSv2 won't work. The lpr command is just sending data to print without using any print driver. The easiest way is to use notepad to create a text file and print that. Also, text files need to use the binary switch (-o /l).

    Example:

    lpr -S 192.168.0.15 -P print -o /l -d c:\temp\test.txt
For whatever it may be worth, the queue name is "lp" for the internal controllers, not "print".

"Print" is only for Fieries (at least in CanonLand...)
So I quit cold turkey... now I'm on to hot, crispy bacon.

You are right lp is the correct name according to Canon, but both will actually work.

I use this command all the time, especially for those "I can't print" calls. In half the time it takes me to turn on my laptop, hook it up to the printer, and send a job, I use the PC in question and get a print job out from a command prompt. Then there is no question the problem is with their print server.
