Unhappy IR3300 setup printer in Win7

I have a problem about setup IR3300 printer driver in Win7 32bit home premium but the printer will automatic offline after a short time. When i restart the PC the printer still can use but automatic offline still come out. now i mean the automatic offline like you off the M/C then shown offline in printer status. in another way, i see the another HP network laser printer don't have this problem come out.

Then i try to setup PCL 6 and PS3 driver also same problem will come out. The all driver i download from Canon Malaysia Offical web site.

Anything i miss out to be like this?

This was in the connectivity forum.

I can't say as I know a "fix" for this but a few things to check are enable/disable SNMP in the printer port config., enable/disable SNMP at the copier, check firewall settings, or power management settings.

I've seen it a couple times now that the windows firewall blocks printing after a windows update. Since it happens almost immediately, I doubt the power management settings will make any difference but make sure it is set to never turn off the HDD's.

It sounds more like a SNMP issue. Try disabling it in the printer port config. and at the copier. Check that the copier and Win 7 SNMP community names match. As a last ditch effort I'd update the firmware on the copier, mostly just to say you've done everything you can at the copier end. Then ask them to do the latest windows update. GL

    How is this machine connected.

    Router , Switch?

    What about cables?

Could also be a nic card going bad.

when entering the IP Address to create a port "do not enter the zeros before any number in an octet".
    A common mistake

SNMP is not installed by default in Win 7, which is used to communicate with the copier.
Either install it on your PC or turn it off at the copier.
    Additional Functions->System Settings-> Network Settings-> (page down)SNMP.
    Set it to "off".

On your PC open the printers folder. Right click on the Canon, open properties.
On the Port tab click Configure, make sure the SNMP box is unchecked.

SNMP= Simple network management protocol. This is what Netspot, Jetdirect admin, Smartnet monitor and the rest use to get basic info about the network printer. Such as how much paper it has, how much toner, if any doors are open, whether it is online or not, etc... If you turn off SNMP the PC will assume it is online until a print job fails to print. In which case you would have to manually "refresh" the printer status. hope this helps!

Windows Displays the Printer as Offline >
Check if the printer has an error or warning condition (ex. stapler problem, low toner, etc) on it. If the machine has an error or warning condition on it, it can cause the symptoms mentioned above. The solution would be to resolve the error or warning condition on the machine (ex. add toner, replace the staple cartridge, have the machine serviced, etc).
To check for an error or warning condition, perform the following:

    I. Look at the System Monitor screen on the machine's LCD screen.

II. Look at the status of the device via the RUI or Web Tools.

III. Query the status of the LPD service running on the machine via the LPQ command:

    1. Launch the Command Prompt (Start > Run > type 'cmd' > OK).

    2. Print a job or 2 via the LPR command.

    Syntax: lpr -S ip_address_of_printer -P queue_name -d path_to_file
    Example: lpr -S 192.168.1.147 -P print -d C:\temp\test.pdf

    3. Run the LPQ command.

    Syntax: lpq -S ip_address_of_printer -P queue_name
    Example: lpq -S 192.168.1.147 -P print

    4. The LPQ command will list any error or warning conditions detected by the LPD service on the printer.

Example of no error or warning conditions returned by LPQ command:

Example of an error or warning condition returned by LPQ command:

    Alternate Workarounds:

    - Try disabling the 'SNMP Status Enabled' option in the Standard TCP/IP Port's properties.

    - Set the printer to use a Print Services for Unix LPR Port instead of a Standard TCP/IP Port. The Print Services for Unix LPR Port should not have this issue.

or try locking the switch port and the Canon device at the same network speed.

Good call on the alternate Unix LPR port.

To add to the LPR command, .pdf files will only print if you have the PSv3 option on the copier or Fiery, PSv2 won't work. The lpr command is just sending data to print without using any print driver. The easiest way is to use notepad to create a text file and print that. Also, text files need to use the binary switch (-o /l).

    Example:

    lpr -S 192.168.0.15 -P print -o /l -d c:\temp\test.txt

there also something i noted about these setup drivers. on win7 32bit, if installed through a setup file, the printer icons in the devices & printers might go missing after a restart on the PC. a quick fix to this is to install the driver manual without the setup.exe file. the printer will stay online and visible if done the manual way.
