Mrfixit51, did you set up an independent IP address, like 192.168.1.245 or let the unit auto. detect under DHCP, when the WAP is under a "client" type setup?

    Thank you.

It could happen either way,,, we typically let PC's use DHCP to find their address, but printers are best set up with a static address, so they will always "be sitting in the same spot" when you try to find them on the network. Just find an address out of the range of where the DHCP would normally place new contacts if you are setting it up static. Otherwise DHCP would work, I just don't know how you would administer to the wireless device if it could change it's address. I vote for static for the wireless access.

My one cautionary tale to this story is to avoid powering up the access points for very long before establishing their client status. When I set up the ones I found, (they could be 4 different types of devices depending on configuration), they were default set to 192.168.1.1,,,, the same as our main server was. While I had it powered up and broadcasting, since it was not configured yet, it blocked our server while I was doing my initial setup, taking my time and reading. I started to hear people asking if others were having network troubles,, and finally tripped to the fact that my device was causing the problem. Read first and then configure...

Mrfixit51, thank you & the rest of you guys. Works on a IR3300i - Wireless Access Point. Must use client mode for existing wireless network & use the SSID for the network.

    Again than you.

No problem Melanie, I was just informing you of the rules of the forum. We try to keep the area clutter free so we can concentrate on the problems presented here, with out having to read through posts that have no bearing on the subject matter here...
