    canon np1020 no life

Customer brought in her 1020 thats in awesome shape. There is no life ie display, fan noise etc. Fuses check out and the 12v, 10v dc etc. is there. Can it be a switch , should not at least the fan run or something when the power seems to be alright?

Check the interlock switch on the fuser door. Its just a piece of flat metal that can bend and not actuate the switch, front side of door. Also check the main interlock, less likely that one. Either one will kill power to the machine.

From the database: Possible bad scanner driver PCB.
Personally I'd spend more time with the main power switch and power supply. Do you have any voltages at the PS?

You know, I liked these little machines. We had them in some horrendous environments: factories, gravel pits, welding shops, etc. Sure they got dirty, but cleaned up OK, and survived amazingly well.

I doubt that you can get any parts. Good luck. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Ive pushed that fuser door switch on and off today 10x at least with no luck. When I was posting this issue, I went back to the machine and it was working....its the fuser door switch, so I've just sprayed some contact cleaner/lub at it and lets see what tomorrow brings.

    Thanks!!!!!

Your welcome, I just worked on a 1010 today, oddly enough. We have several machines parted out, and as far as I know Canon still has parts available.

PS- just checked on Canon, only a few parts still avalable. Drums, toner - yes. fuser , DV- no. We have alot of 1010, 1020 parts in stock if you need them.

so I just went and powered the unit up, after being off all night, and its not working. I just wiggled the switch etc. and nothing. Yesterday when it came on it had been ignored for a couple hours when I just happen to look over at it and it was on. So it wasn't something we did at the time. Hmmmmm, I am going to leave it on and see what happins. Stay posted! Unless anyone has a idea

Here is the update...I just walked by the unit heard some noise and away it went. So from the time it was turned on it took about 3-4 minutes before anything occurred. Any ideas?
