When you or anyone try to manipulate or convert a copier that is fraud.
Copier Machine-Manuals,Firmware,Software,Technical Support Paperwork are all over the Internet. That information is not barred or taken down by Canon , because they want their products that are sold here and overseas to be repaired.

Are all over the internet? You mean for free? I don't think so if there is somebody here that is authorized from canon to sell as what you mentioned above.

I noticed Canon service manuals have disappeared on the "for sale" sites.
Canon has always tried to maintain a tight grip on its' dealers and their intellectual property.
There is nothing illegal about giving something away for free. Just as a dealer can choose to charge for something, they can also give it away for free. It is the illegal duplication and copyright infringements that are a cause for concern.
Also the copyright laws allow for a certain amount of duplication based on things such as research, casual use, reference, etc.
Sharing of technical expertise and reference to portions and sections of service and parts manuals is acceptable. Wholesale unauthorized duplication and sale for profit of copyrighted material is illegal.
Firmware and software availability depends on the the agreement between manufacturer and the consumer, dependent on who the consumer is, dealer or end-user. Each manufacturer varies.
I'm not an attorney, but I did once get into a fight with one. YMMV
