He may have said that it comes from main board but I've never seen "clocking" with this model and we have worked on plenty. The "quote 10 Canon trained techs" could do nothing with these? Then some guy from "another company" came by and said they need to swap all the boards? The whole thing sounds funny to me. Makes me wonder about those techs...........

    Good input by Costd though-----

Here is the best advice,,, since you are buying used color copiers, avoid the 3100 and 6800 family of copiers all together. Let someone else have that "fun". You would do well to buy the 2620-3200-3220 family of copiers. They were a much more reliable copier, that produced better color images.

That is good advice but I would add to it to avoid the 2620-3200-3220 family also if you need a good fax or scanner. The Doc feeder sucks. Good printer though.

Where do u think the Motherboard gets it's power from ???

how can u see or time the ITB belt/Drum & Pickup all at once/ on a 3100 ???
who cares if machine has no errors or jams-
if this is a true CQ timing
issue/ post some test prints/ & copies or sell your machines for scrap

A very good machine?,?,?, I beg to differ, it is a poor excuse for a color copier, as is the 6800 family.

I think Canon makes the best copiers out there but the 3100 gets my vote as the worst Canon I've worked on. 6800 is a close second. The 60hz vs 50hz sounds dead on, good call Costd.
I remember the 1st time I did a developer change on a 3100, I couldn't believe how hard it was to turn them by hand. It just didn't seem normal, even new developer units were very hard to turn by hand. I've found it just eats through those developer clutches. They are high maintenance copiers. Changing them reminds me of the days of taking out the duplex unit on a np7550.

We bought 50 IR3100cn and we sold for scrap 30 pieces.

Motherboards here in Albania get power from air, fresh air :P
