    Unhappy Is this true????

    Hello!
We are a company in Albania and we buy refurbished copiers(Toshiba,Canon,Ricoh) in Switzerland, and sell them in Albania.
Mostly of copiers are(were) Toshiba E-Studio and our staff is qualified for this brand.
Before 1 years we started to import Canon color copiers and we had too much problems with old models, like IR3100CN and one day a guy from another Company come to us(friendly) and when he saw us trying to repair one(all parts down on the ground),he said: "You do not need to do this, because you cant repair them.We are 10 Canon Trained Techs and we cannot repair them, without changing all boards, because after some years, this models of copiers, all have problem of "clocking".You try to make a copy, and transfer belt, drum and paper feed do not move in synchronous and you got problems on copying(quality, image),without showing an error code."
I just rejected his word and say to him that this cannot be true, because if motherboard has problems with clocking,it will showes an error at any time.
IS THAT TRUE WHAT HE SAID?

Its not true, but the IR3100c family is a high maintenance machine. Toner gets sprayed around inside the machine, the fuser gets flat spots and the drum life is very short if the customer does a lot of colour.

Some years????? It's my concern to know in how many years that the clocking issue happen. Perhaps my machines would last for decades or even for centuries.

    Then again

This could be another case of a machine built for use in the US (60Hz) is being used in Europe (50Hz). Not a case of 120v vs 240 (which can be handled via transformer) - but the difference in Hz will cause timing (clocking) issues.

Check the power supply and see if it is expecting 60Hz - if so, lots of parts need to be changed (as he was talking about), or you need to run it off a battery/inverter that can do 60Hz.

Actually I hope this is not your problem as if he has 10 techs and none knew .......

Yes , the 3100 is a high maintenance machine. BUT this doest bode well for his "techs". Maybe they need additional training. Think the next time I go to one I will change "all the boards"
    Yes, I am a nerd.
Gaming PC - check. Raspberry Pi - Check. Custom ROM on phone - check. Thick glasses - check.

Upload some samples and let us all see what's happening.
It may be a TIMING problem.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Not true - and I'll bet you that Costd nailed it with the supplied power issue 60hz versus 50hz comment he made.

No Error Codes/No Jam Codes during Operations /always = A Supply POWER ISSUE
**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**

In Europe our electricity frequency is 50 hz and all copiers come to Europe are 50 hz,no doubt, but he said that problem of "clocking" comes from motherboard not from power supply.
