The following instructions are described as Rule A and Rule B.

A If your computer has more than 1 hard drive or more than 1 partition. HOST NAME: \\ computer name or IP address \ hard disk shared name
FILE PATH: \ folder name or shared name
USER: enter a valid user name that has write privilege to the computer that
    you are sending to.
PASSWORD: enter the valid user password.
B If your computer only has 1 hard drive or 1 partition.
HOST NAME: \\ computer name or IP address \ folder name or shared name
FILE PATH: enter subdirectory in shared folder or leave this section blank.
USER: enter a valid user name that has write privilege to the computer that
    you are sending to.
PASSWORD: enter the valid user password.

If the entire hard disk is being shared, follow A.

If the entire hard disk and a specific folder are being shared, follow A or B.
If the hard disk is not being shared and only the folder is being shared, follow B.

    Notes:

You must have the ability to write to the shared folder. On Windows 2000/2003/XP/Vista, be sure the account (user name and password) used to send has permission to write to the shared folder (both share permission and NTFS permission).

What are the required settings for sending files from a Canon device to a computer via FTP protocol.

HOST NAME: computer name or IP address of the FTP host computer.
FILE PATH: leave this section blank see Note 1:
USER: enter a valid user name that has write privilege to the host that you are sending to.
PASSWORD: enter the valid password for the user that you have entered above.
    * If the destination FTP Server allows anonymous access, you can enter anonymous for the Username and enter an email address or any text into the Password field.

** The USER and the PASSWORD fields totally depend on how the FTP server was configured and the privileges that were given to the username that you are using.

    Note 1:
    1) When the FILE PATH is left blank, the file will be sent to the FTP default root directory of the FTPserver.

    2) If you need to send to a folder or directory that is inside the default FTP root directory, then enter the name of the folder or directory in this section (do not use any \ back slashes or any other symbol at the beginning of the folder or directory name)

The easiest way to set this up is to browse out from the machine.

    Check the server message,check

1.User name and password, of that file server you are sending too.
    2.Sharing rights of that folder.
