    irc3220 display issue

Just got in a c3220 and it goes to wait fine on power up but as soon as it goes to boot form that the display goes cloudy and can't see anything. Any suggestions as to the issue. Firmware or something? Any help appreciated. Has a C2 fiery.

Could be a control panel issue.

    Did you check the contrast?

Yes it moves it lighter and darker - and it isn't the control panel because when you power up the Canon logo with the wait message and green line moving to ready works fine - as soon as green line gets to right pisition display goes to cloudy/milky

Clean & Re-seat the memory DIMMs
    Remove Boot Rom/ Re-Seat it

O, so it doesn't boot up.

    I misunderstood

That's not a display issue however.

    That's a boot up issue.

Keep in mind a bad main controller could do this also.

Also for the hell of it try doing defrag by holding down 1&9 when booting up.

A small box will appear at the top left and will start to drop and fill the whole LCD, until download mode appears, then reboot.

    Good Point on Defrag>

Poster did not mention if printer has a full boot up ! Guess u cant tell with cloudy/milky LCD

If there is a E602 error code that could not be seen on LCD - the Control Panel Power light should go Red.

Bad HDD could be shorting out 3220=
Good test would be to disconnect HDD/ then turn on to see if printer displays the splash screen & pops up E602 on LCD / if so_ HDD is bad/shorted out/ If u don't see a splash screen and have no Power/ check Power Supply.

If the unit without the display showing then it would sound to be a load issue on the power. I have never heard of a HD shorting and I worked with many, many drives. They logic boards can load down the bus but I honestly never heard of the short thing. If your working but no display and your not getting an error code you'll have to start to eliminate the load issue. I would start with the power board and swap it with a working unit. Max 30 min job and you main power was or wasn't issue.

The Fuse PCB on these models can cause haywire to many components, the FUSE v must read to exact 3.3v / or what ever the posted voltage for it -no more & no less.

I have seen this shorting out issue many times in the 3200 series & 5180 series, it is an easy way to test if you have a power issue or a HDD issue.

This is also a test u can run on your PC when it does not power/boot up- if u unplug HDD and PC box powers up- your HDD is Toast
