iR-c3200 - Colors out of alignment.

My first thought was that the ITB was slipping. I removed it, cleaned all the rollers and the inside of the belt, put a new cleaner unit and cleaned the sensors.

But, when I ran the test pattern (#6) the color lines in the sub-scanning direction are still about 1mm apart. (the copies look blurry)

    What else can I do?

    Thanks.

    Bill

I know this sounds like a disney fix, but if you got nothing else, do a p-print and clear d-con. Reinput data. Reboot

u need to also check the small ITB drive gear assembly on right side/ the plastic helical gear teeth edges strip & slip over drive gear= a cause of blur copies/prints-sub scan

that gear unit below/ now has some updated gears/ tough to remove and rebuild/replace effected gears

    * The pattern correction data stored in the DC Controller may be corrupt. Try clearing dc-con ram. You can run a test copy to see if the dc-con clear resolved the problem prior to inputting back up data. (Be sure you have run a P-Print: Copier/Function/MiscP/P-Print prior to performing any ram clears so back up data can be reentered).

Afterward- Run a Test print type 6 / check grid lines

You may have to remove this unit and re-align

    Hi Bill

All the responses are textbook material and brilliant!! The only thing is that this is a common problem on those machines. I get it frequently and I do the same as you did. What is your durabilitys on the ITB belt. (maybe streched) Try swopping out with a working unit.

    Regards

    Gerhard

Your lasers my need to be manually reset back to home position.

Also make sure your firmware is up to date.

Bill, This is what SCREWTAPE is talking about below>>>>>
it is usually done for paper feed issues

    PG_1_10.JPG

Color Mis-Registration in the main scanning (front to rear) direction due to Laser Cam Out-of-
    Alignment Condition:
1.Remove the 4 laser units from the machine.
2.Remove the laser cover to expose the lens.
3.Adjust the cammed gear until it is at its center position.
4.Reassemble the laser unit and reinstall in the machine.
5.Turn on the power and once again try PG Type 6 and PG Type 10.

Lets not forget the drive gear that is pinned to the ITB drive roller shaft. This is where I have seen most of the wear. Lightly holding onto the drive roller try twisting the gear back and forth, there should be no play in that gear, if there is replace it, and follow the previous instructions to do a DC-Con clear, and re-input the settings from your previously generated p-print.

I am in agreement, my technique is to ensure I have a rag under that area when I am trying to fit the pin in the shaft, as I usually drop it at least once while try to reassemble the swing gear assembly on the shaft. I have used whiteout inline with the pin slot in the gear so I can more easily line the pin and gear up on that shaft.

I use some chewing gum/ works great when setting any metal pin
    /
try it, use a small amount on tip & push in/never falls out
