Hard drives where are they located

I'm replacing some canon mfp. I need to remove the hard drive but don't know where they are located. The models are C587ou and 5000. Thanks.

If you're having a problem finding a HD, you should call a real professional.

If he's just removing the old MFP's HDs and the old machines are scrap, then why not just rip'em open and take everything out until the HD pops up?

Not to difficult to take out.

    Are you reloading firmware?

For the iR5000 - remove the doc feeder, remove the rear reader cover, look to the top right. Unless you are going to trash the machine, I would look hard at what screws/plate need to be removed, and the power and data cable.

If you are looking to resell the units, would be better to clear the user data areas and settings (Canon has a TP on it) - that way you will not need to reload the system software and works for anything short of government requirements that say physically destroy the HDD.

BTW: formatting the HDD is kind of like locking a glass window.

This is a goverment machine. They need the hdd truned over to them before the machine can be removed from their location. I never worked on a canon copier so that's why I was asking. Thanks to all who gave me info on this. Not like some "a holes" here.

I'll give you positive rep. teckat. You were the first person to actually help this individual and not mock him. Something I've noticed too often here, people seek help and they get mocked for some reason. I bet that really makes their day. Kudos to you!

I don't know you at all but I agree. Sometimes some people get mocked instead of helped. Glad someone came through for you. Good luck. I'll give you a positive rep vote too for the trauma you've had to endure on this post.
