Bottom line is that the yellow wire on the 7 pin connector is not receiving the 5V DC that should be there. Am trying to ascertain if the power to that wire is being deprived by hardware issue or software.

Am not sure why when the DADF was observed this morning it was detecting a paper in the unit vs. no detection before. However, when restarted the printer, it is no longer showing any life, but the gray wire on the 7 pin J2 connector is at 5V now.

Am still leaning towards removing & replacing the circuit board that the yellow wire comes from & welcome any suggestions on service mode adjustments.

    Gremlins.

Here is Circuit Diagram -Reader Pcb to DADF /use scroll bar below to view all of page-24vDC is supplied from Printer Main Power Supply

that seven pin connector interfaces from DADF PCB in to Reader Controller Pcb connector J404/ that is where u need to check voltage output u are missing

Tested reader controller PCB terminal on the circuit board and reads same as J1. Pin for yellow wire is 0V. I understand that the reader controller PCB should be removed & repaired or replaced. Thank you.

    Reminder

after performing an RCON clear on the machine.
There is a setting in service mode found in COPIER>OPTION>BODY> SENS-CNF which needs to be set to"1" for inch configuration. When performing an RCON clear, the setting changes to 0. This sets the machine back to AB-configuration which is a factory default setting. The steps to change this setting are located below.

    Enter service mode

    Copier>Option> Body
Select SENS-CNF and set it to 1 for Inch-configuration.
turn off & on to set in

    +++
    COPIER>OPTION>BODY
    MODEL-SZ
Use it to select the mode of indication by destination and of the ADF original
    size detection.
    Settings 0: AB (6R5E), 1: INCH (5R4E), 2: A (3R3E), 3: AB/INCH (6R5E)

    COPIER>OPTION>BODY
    SCANSLCT
Use it to enable or disable the original size detection mechanism for the
    ADF.
    • When enabled, the scan size is determined in relation to the original
    size.
Settings 0: off (default), 1: on

WOW...................if you would have changed reader board would have saved a lot of headches.. First an ADF com error then a reader com error....whats in common? The labor time that was wasted farting around with this thing could buy a reader board. If it worked intermittently at least you could have tried to reseat reader board connectors. Its untouched!

Geez, I recall reading something about a reader controller board five pages back....
    =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
