Techat, thanks for your post. Can you please confirm which cable that is. There's a cable that has 2 screws on each end that screw into the ADF and main copier frame (near the side bypass tray). Then there's other cables that appear to be power-type cables.

    Thank you.

Thanks. Will do continuity check on that cable. The other cable is a SCSI type cable that has (too) many small contacts.

BTW, that SCSI-type data cable to me looked to be a bit more worn. Could the above described error be generated from that cable?

Teckat, while the unit sits, it is going into an error mode that disables the copier. The error code showing is 743-0000.

Might this still be associated with the interface cable problem? I understand this code reads: "The reader controller PCB detects a fault in the communication between the main controller PCB and the reader controller PCB."

    In this order:
    1) replace interface cable
    2) replace ADF controller PWB
    3) replace reader controller PWB

To test the pigtail, remove the cable. Set you meter to resistance with beep. Connect your meter leads to the opposite ends of the first wire. 0 ohms resistance and beep? Good. Now wiggle the harness back and forth to see if the connection breaks. No? Go to the next wire. Continue until you've checked every wire, every pin. This is the most likely cause. If you do have an intermittent connection on one of the wires, don't think of cutting into the harness and repairing the wire. If one wire is broken, others are sure to be just as close to breaking. =^..^=
I think you just answered your own question. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Thanks Blackcat for your post. Can you please clarify what part is the "reader controller PWB" that you've bolded. Is that the cable, or another part? Thank you.

You know the connector that teckat has been illustrating? It connects directly to the reader controller circuit board. =^..^=

Teckat, thanks for your post. Have now confirmed that the cables are OK, checked continuity as suggested in the forum & even tried cables on another IR3300i thereby confirming that the problem is not a cable problem.

Can you suggest whether it likely requires the replacement of the circuit board located in the ADF that the interface cable plugs into?? The circuit board had its red LED flashing on booting up & seems to have power in it, but the before described error codes persist & the ADF will not function. Specifically, when paper is placed into the ADF, it does not turn on (green indicator ontop) nor do the ADF rollers move thereby recognizing the paper in the ADF.

Blackcat's suggested diagnostic states to replace the ADF controller PWB - which circuit board might that be, and then replacing the reader controller PWB.

    Thank you
