Getting access to the fuser on a canon PC1060 (ImageClass D860) copier/fax

I need to find out out to get access to the fuser assembly for an ImageClass D860 printer. When I print, i'm getting a vertical smudge "stripe" about 1/3 rd way from the left side of the page. I don't want to buy a service manual, but if one can explain how to remove it or give the link to a free service manual that would be magnificient.

Get a good right angle ratchet screwdriver and you can take off the covers on the left side and take the fuser out that way. 3 screws and 3 connectors

Service manuals are tools.Do you not buy tools too? I have the extended version of this Parts & Service manual which has a better description for replacing the fuser than the way Canon describes it. It was written by a tech. I have it appended to the end of the manual. I wouldn't sell it to you for all the tea in China.

    Brian,

So what you are saying is to remove the screws on the output paper side? The cover that covers the output rollers won't give access to the fuser, will it? And the power/Parallel port/USB port connector doesn't give access to the fuser. Are you sure you mean the left side (looking from the front) ?

Left side. Remove cover over printer ports, catch tray/cover, upper cover by loosening middle screw, disconnect 3 connectors under insulator, remove small left inside cover, 3 screws, 2 on right, 1 on left and slide unit out. Takes less than 10 minutes.

A little searching would have revealed that the info you seek has already been discussed, and some advice given. Check out this thread...

Canon ImageClass D860 printer/copier-smudge. Perhaps on fuser?
