    iRC3220 Magenta Background

iRC3220 Magenta Background using 11x17 in by-pass heavy stock paper, mostly front side of machine has background almost like the drum is grounding or too much bias.
only happens to magenta in heavy stock paper after 20 copies.
any ideas???? drum life is 83%

Too much compensation for heaver stock for magenta.....?.

Try Performing the auto gradation, full, using the THICK PAPER button selected.

    Are you selecting heavy type?

Your drum life percentage is kind of high as well.

those %#'s are misleading- if u are printing over 6% to 10% coverage on 11x17 stock/ your Drums will eventually crap out- u just have to pull out magenta drum an look at surface/ if dark areas appear on surface, there is your background issue =causes overtone & background

Umm... Question: Copier drum life means that the percentage of life remaining or the amount of drum life used.. ? thought it was remaining like Xerox

Are you a tech? If you're one then dismantle the magenta drum unit. Clean the primary roller area & remove accessive toner. Upgrading DC-Con version is recommended (ver37 or higher). 83% drum lifespan is still acceptable if you're a heavy & massive user. If none of the recommendation works, then replace the drum unit. Go to service mode>Copier>Option>Body>scroll down & set>DVTG-M value to +2>OK.(after replacing the drum unit)......good luck.

that setting does not have any effect/ all u need to do is inspect drum surface/ it will reveal if u will have background issues/
I had 240 of these 3220 machines at one Major account/ those Level 1/ Level 2 settings are a waste of time when it comes to image issues.

that Drum% rating is a waste/ Canon Still cant get their act straight trying to explain it

...at least mine works. 540% of drum lifespan & still rolling.
(Extreme & massive cutomer of mine. Their monthly copy volume = 50-70k...simply amazing)

    50k>70k that is nothing/
that Major acct I mentioned/ avg. monthly volume on each 3220 was 125k>135k - without playing around with service mode settings.
    like I said that %
reading is not correct/misleading & and a software glitch that effects many 3220 serial # machines / Firmware updates do not repair or have effect on a very large batch of 3220's
