iR 5070 dog's ears via fuser

It only does it on heavy paper - and not always. I got to test it, copies were fine. A few min later, it started curling the lead edge corners down (front and rear, sometimes front only) - dog's ears effect.
TEmp/pressure from the fuser and paper is likely hitting something just past the fuser rollers, or before exiting (via finisher). It's hard to stall this to catch the fault, because it sometimes doesn't do it.
Adjustments? There are two screws with springs to the left of the fuser unit - what are they for?

If its intermit what makes you suspect its happening when passing thru the fuser?

Those two screw with the two springs are where nip adjustments are made.
These springs apply pressure between the fixing and pressure roller.
    Do not adjust these springs!

Good question, I was wondering about it myself - dog's ears are happening when copy comes out face down. Why are they sometimes come face up (no dog's ears on those occasions); but then I also had face down coming out, and - no problems. Not consistent...

If it was happening before the fuser the ears would have been flattened down good - as it is, they seem to be hitting something past the fuser, as the corners are just bent, not flattened out.

I did adjust them down a bit - and it seemingly fixed my problem. Quick sand territory here

Check around the fuser and delivery area good...

Check the claw separating. Check the duplex unit area under the fixing unit.

Check the flapper and its solenoid on the duplex unit.

Look for jammed paper. Something is causing it.

Not sure - it's a wild catch from the local 'scoop and fix' company. Will update later - if issues come up.
BTW - like your avatar - the death of death
