If you have an AD with user Authentication then a valid username and password would be needed to access folder.
Hello
- I can see the folder from the another computer by typing to the windows explorer \\alune\Scanned documents
- folder permission are full rights to everyone
- No firewall settings on this computer
- this computer has no D:
- i tried both SMB and FTP and both are to FTP i tried with activedirectoy\administrator and password and still didnt work
any other ideas?
I may read too much and understand too little - but that does not stop me. My answer assumes your OS is not Win7 or Mac.
From long ago I seem to remember that Canon and AD do not work together because of something to do with the Canon unit is not being "verified" as a device - and there was no official fix. MS said it was a Canon problem, Canon said it was a MS problem.
Only way I myself have been able to get them to play nice:
1. Disconnect the target computer from the network and reboot to force a local logon.
2. Create a local user called SCANNER (or whatever), make it an administrator, set password to Ilike2makeScans, set password to never expire.
3. Create a folder called Scans at the root level (C:\Scans) and share it.
4. Reconnect to the network and reboot - sign in like normal.
5. On the target machine, configure to scan a file using SMB to the shared folder (like others have described) and use SCANNER as the userID and Ilike2makeScans as the password.
This process works and has the added benefit of freaking out your IT security people.
