I purchased it on line, but I also took one from a working copier, same results. But the kit works in the other copier.

No, the green light does not come on the copier.

I would try pinging the copier with a crossover cable. If those two talk then you have a cable issue somewhere in the customers network. If they do not talk then you have a main controller issue. Unfortunatly the NIC is built into the main controller on all these newer models.
