Average Joe = "No" that's right.
News stations/& reporters will now jump on anything which has to do with security. HDD procedures are now written into contracts.

If it's easier to hack into a companies system, why would they waste time with a printers HDD.

Funny thing is, I have not even seen a follow up or heard a peep on Printer HDD Security since that TV report.
Don't think criminals are sneaking around companies/removing covers & ripping out HDD.
They are also not buying u warehouse lots of printers to get the HDD, and Leading companies don't have time to sit around a crack each one.

    Great info thanks

Does this initialize all data settings get rid of license options like universal send and pcl kits ?

We usually do the service mode / function / system / check type 1 + 2 + 3 clear as this gets rid of the print logs and what the customer cant see isn't going to hurt them.

If the customer is going to be that "intense" about you wiping the hard drive clean, remove the drive(s), and have him pay you for new drives, along with your time and expertise to properly reload.

This way there is absolutely no doubt, and it's the end of the discussion.

If he's that worried about it, a few hundred bucks shouldn't matter that much to him.

Quite frankly, I've had it up to my eyeballs with this BS. Some customers are demanding 100% security from us, but not willing to pay for it.

Thanks a pantload CBS; 90% of this is because you embellished an otherwise mundane "non-story".

    End of rant...

All of your LMS information will still be in the machine after running the initialize all data settings on the device.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

Remember, LMS is unless unless transferred from a machine at the customer to a machine at the same customer they are replacing.

What is the cost for the fresh copy of 2.5" hardisk with firmware loaded? Yeah different country different prices. Here it cost B$800. Im not sure is it a reasonable price but most of the customer got their eyes wide open when they see so.
