    C4580i Shifting color images

I'm working on a C4580i with a color PCQ problem. The text and images are blurry as the colors are misaligned. I replaced the both the ITB unit and ITB cleaning unit due to high copy count and performed a DC-CON CLEAR and input the door specs. That lasted for a day. I then performed both a DC-CON and MN-CON CLEAR, it's not as bad, but it is not what it should be. Any suggestions would be deeply appreceiated.

The same rules apply to this copier as the 3200 series, check for slippage in worn gears in the ITB drive area, and you may resolve your problem...

Check your Secondary Transfer Roller operation. Replace if old-

Do the laser cam adjustment/ if that does not work-could be a DC Controller issue

To determine if the laser cam/s are at fault, go into Service Mode and perform a PG Type 6 and then a PG Type 10.
    Check Figures 11-14 below
to determine if the laser cams are possibly at fault. Once it has been determined that a laser cam/s are at fault perform the following steps:
1.Remove the 4 laser units from the machine. See Figure 15.
2.Remove the laser cover to expose the lens. See Figure 16.
3.Adjust the cammed gear until it is at its center position. See Figure 17.
4.Reassemble the laser unit and reinstall in the machine.
5.Turn on the power and once again try PG Type 6 and PG Type 10.

To determine if the DC Controller/System Controller wiring is possibly at fault, go into Service Mode and
perform a PG Type 6 and then a PG Type 10. Check Figures 11-14 to determine if the laser cams are
incorrectly positioned due to loose wiring.
    Perform the following steps:
1.Unplug the machine from the Wall Socket
2.Remove the rear panel to access the DC Controller and the System Controller.
3.Disconnect all connectors form the DC Controller, the System Controller and the two
interconnection ribbon cables between the DC Controller and the System Controller.
4.Reconnect all connectors removed in step 5c.
5.Plug machine back into the Wall Socket.
6.Turn on machine and again try PG Type 6 and PG Type 10. If the problem is still present, enter Service Mode.
7.Perform COPIER>FUNCTION>MISCP>P-PRINT, which will output a COPY SERVICE
    REPORT. Retain this report!
    8.Perform COPIER>CLEAR>DC-CON and COPIER>CLEAR>MN-CON *
9.Switch off the machine and unplug from the Wall Socket.
10.Plug machine back into the Wall Socket and turn on.
11.Program the Service Mode settings back into memory.
12.Once again, perform a PG Type 6 and a PG Type 10. If the symptoms persist, try changing the DC Controller or the System Controller.
*NOTE: When performing a DCON Clear, all Service Data will be eliminated and have to be
replaced using the COPY SERVICE REPORT. When performing a MN-CON Clear all file
management information will be lost including mailbox attachments.

If you do need to do the laser adjustment as teckat had explained above only turn the cammed gear clockwise.

I learnt this the hard way!

This is a old problem on these machines what you need to do is the following to clear it

go into service mode and do dc con clear
    open the front door
    turn off the machine
turn on the machine with the door open alow to warm up
go into service mode and perform dc con clear twice with door open
    close door
switch off machine then switch on with door closed

re input the pprint data you should have printed off hey preston 99% of the time it works no tx belt unit or cleaner uinit needed

    cheers

that does not work all the time, especially when u have miss-registration in cross-feed & paper feed directions/ when all else fails the Laser CAM adjust works

Did ya replace the ITB assy whole unit, or just the ITB itself. If u replace just the ITB make sure u clean the rubber drive roller thorough en make there isn;t anny dust/toner on the ITB frame left.

Also clean the sec. transfer roller bushings.

I know thats why i said 99% of the time had techs go in and adjust everything they can touch and made the problem worse just try the basics first and like i said most of the time the fault goes away when you do a dc con clear the way i stated it makes the machine adjust the laser cams automatically without you needing to take them out and turn them

rule of thumb dont dive in sit back and think first

I just replaced the ITB. The customer turned it over to another vendor. Thanks everyone for your assistance.
