    Canon IR HDD

    Hi,

Does anyone know is it possible to replace original System 20GB HDD in Canon IR series with bigger 40 or 60 GB.

Also still need system software for Canon IR 3300.

    Thanks.

    Regards.

You can use a bigger HDD,i think it will only "see" the size that it needs to operate.

You can use a larger drive but it has to be encoded for Canon, otherwise the system software won't load using the Service Support Tool.

No, you have to use a HDD that's specifically encoded for Canon iR devices. You have to buy them from Canon, although I understand there are a few aftermarket companies that sell them. They don't always work so well, but for the most part, they will do the job. I beleive the HDD's are made by Toshiba, and now that I think about it, the specs (Size) have to be the same as the HDD you remove.

No it is not possible because of the systems software. It might allow you to use it but it will not use all the harddrives memory. The software has set partition in it.

You can use a Toshiba HDD not purchased from Canon. If you have the SST you can load the system software onto the blank HDD. This is what we do everytime we need to replace a HDD, it is by for more cost effective.

What Vendor do you get those HDDs from?

Most recently we purchased the hard drives from Computer Giants. We have used other vendors in the past but I don't have the info handy. If my memory serves me correctly I believe they were around $50 each.
