How hard or expensive is it to update to n bootrom? Is it something I can do myself, or is a tech needed. I see the kits on ebay, but are they really plug and play or are updates needed to be uploaded?
The kits consists of a bootrom and a stick of ram. After fitting these you get a error with shutdown on the screen. Just restart and you should be good.

Its not a difficult job for someone that's competent.

Another way go check for print is to hit the counter 123 button and press device configuration and look for UFR or PCL

I think what i needed to look for was the version of the current bootrom, correct? if so it is 8.38 C. Is there a specific version of N bootrom for the 2270 I should be looking for, or are they basically universal? From seeing the pic that teckat posted, I can easily install it. I also see in service mode that I already have 512 ram im guessing from the G3 fax or scan. Do i still have to install the ram the comes in the kit?
