    from the canon site
1.The terminal Fixing Bias leaf spring (FB4-2237-000 ) can bend downwards after the encapsulating mount breaks, bias is then lost to fuser roller or even leak to chassis causing black copies or E197-000.
2.Front fuser bush wrong way round...they are sometimes like this from the factory and Techs just fit the bushes back the same way they found them.
3.E197-0000 Followed all suggestions and steps outlined in Service Bulletin iR7105-007 (F1-T01-OM6-10015-01) but with no result. Noted the UFR Collar (FC7-4107-000) had collapsed giving the identical error code.

The machine generates an E197 error code. This code refers to a communication error with the laser scanner motor (M4). In an attempt to resolve the issue; the laser assembly, main controller, video pcb, dc controller and all coronas were replaced. The machine would generate this code when almost up to full temperature during potential control.

    Solution :
Found the fuser bias tab shorted to the fixing frame assembly due to a broken heater holder.
    FB5-6944-000 (Holder, Heater)
    FB5-6951-000 (Terminal, Bias)

    Solution :
The E197 indicates a problem with the Laser Scanner Motor communication. It has been found that a poor connection of the Video PCB, or a problem in the related wiring may cause one or both of the aforementioned problems.

    Video PCB FM2-4354-000

    Conversion Cable FM2-5428-020
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

Check the described fuser connections and also clean the connector strip on the edge of the video pcb with fine emery cloth then alcohol and reseat it securely in the main controller.

Both plastic collars(bushings) should have flange on them installed toward front of machine...flange on outside of front bearing and inside of rear bearing.....real old bulletin...manual diagram wrong
