    Clear/ is a typical Canon Band-aid approach
    Maybe because it works quite well and can be done very fast ?

    This typically does not fix the problem and causes a more time consuming repair in the end. The techs that usually do this never achieve the calls per day or recall average that they are required to make each period. The techs that take the time to understand the problem and repair it properly end up being a more productive technician.

    Agree with that, but sometimes all things regarding drums and itb are checked and/ or new. Than sometimes still colors are displaced... Than I would opt for reg-clear, restart the machine, et-voila colors are registered again :-) Have good experience with that, it is not a beginning point, but an end solution so to say.

    if that is the case just run a quick auto gradation. It does a color registration for you while doing the quick color adjust.

    Every time a Tech or End User uses a Canon Band Aid Quick Fix {Hit n' Run}
    ,
    it comes back to Haunt them.

    It's all about Procedure, as a Senior Tech/Troubleshooter -
    if I am called to an account, only to find the asking Tech did not follow a Procedure,
    Guess What= I send his butt back to the account, to list in order the approach they took.

    My reply to THUK was to confirm that there is a REG-CLR on 4080s. I have only used it twice AFTER taking my itb out and thoroughly cleaning drive rorrer, steel roller and transfer roller with windex. Some guys automatically change the belt and they are out of there, I experimentand try to not change the belt, unless I absolutely have to. Nost times the machine recovers nicely, a few times I had to do DC-con Clear and reenter the values from P-Print. After learning of Reg-Clr, I have been using it, so as not to re-enter values again.
    Once I had to clear DC-Con after trying Reg-Clr twice. I also check for toner leaks from the drum on the front frame and itb edge. I also find that a buildup of toner on top of drum, is a clue that it is or will be a prroblem soon. So far i have only had 2 recalls with this procedure.

    That Reg.CLR has been around since year 2007,
    it was implemented on DCON update 53.02

    Like I stated ,a PM schedule is always your best defense .
