Canon ir7105, imagepass S2 mac driver problems

we are running mac leopard 10.5.8
when we install the driver for the imagepass S2 2.0 (which only goes to 10.4 os) the driver installs.
when we go to print the driver crashes (Poof disapears from screen).
there must be a updated driver to handle the 10.5.8 os.

does anyone have this problem and a work around or advice?

    many thanks

Teckat, this link only points to the internal controller drivers, not the Fiery ones.

Unfortunately, Canon never did release an M2 driver for the newer Mac OSes.

One work around: Download and install the Windows PostScript driver for the M2 on a PC, and print a test page.

Copy the .ppd file that shows on the test page to your Mac, and point to that file when installing the driver.

In theory, .ppd files are not platform specific, so this trick should work

Here are the drivers the ImagePass-S2:

          Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : imagePASS-S2

Strange but it looks like the S2 v1.0 supports 10.5.x, while S2 v2.0 doesn't. I'd downgrade the imagepass to v1.0, uninstall the S2 v2.0 and then install the S2 v1.0 ppd that supports 10.5.x.

Thanks KenB, I forgot about your trick. Good call.

That's what I saw too, could it be a misprint? It doesn't seem right that they would go backwards like that.

The following affected devices currently do not have Mac OSX v10.6 (Snow Leopard) PS driver. Canon has released the Print Driver Updater tool to enable printing from Snow Leopard to these controllers using the Mac OSX v10.5 Postscript print driver.

My bad on the S2 vs M2; same basic issue, though.

For whatever it may be worth, I have a customer with an S2 (iR7105) who just upgraded to Windows 7, 64 bit.

No PS drivers available, but there are PCL drivers.

                  What's up with that??
