    if everything is configured correctly or was working prior to this I would reload firmware on the S2. If you are installing this S2 for the first time on the 7105 then you need change a few things in order to get them to talk.

    You must have a "c" boot rom installed along with the interface board that comes with the S2
    Your img-cont setting must be set to a 4
    you have to use a crossover cable between the two devices in order for them to talk properly

    yes everything was working correctly yesterday and was shut down. today i turned it on and that is when the boot failure occurred.
    i tried multiple restarts and removing, reinstalling the memory and removing all cables.

    i found this site. is it possible this is the firmware i will need to reload firmware?

    Remove and re-seat the C Boot Rom-
    imageRUNNER 7105/7095/7086
    C=Copier Boot Rom/FM2-5435-000

    There was a COMPOSITE PATCH for the imagePASS-S2 v2.0 / v2.01, from 2009 that needed to be installed, that addressed many issues. see pub.

    U need your Fiery S2 Disks/ or the SST w/7105 Firmware in it.

    This has nothing to do with your issue. You need to reload S2 for starters and then possibly the 7105 to take it to the latest version.
    How exactly was the S2 shut down?

    the s2 was shut down as normal from the screen prompts, waiting for the command the system is safe to shut down. then the power button to off.

    You will probably need to order the CD's from somewhere or see if someone can send you a link to download them from an FTP site. I personally don't get involved in things of that nature, but others guys do from time to time. You may want to give your local dealership a call and see if they will sell you a copy.
