    Question Service2 differs from counter

I saw 2 copiers today whose SERVICE2 counter was showing 500, while the user counter "123 button-counter" was showing approx. 3000 copies.
One was iR7086 and the other iR5570.

How come the counter on SERVICE2 under (Counter/Total/Service2) is showing much less than counter that you see under (123) button ?

Usually I refer to Service2 counter because large size: increase by 2; small size: increase by 1, so it gives me a Converted Total number of (copied or printed) A4/letter.

I mean - it is obvious that counters are modified. I saw enough dirt on the machine to estimate at least 2-3 mill on each. But why the difference ?

we use the 102 meter to get an accurate reading for the long and short pages combined on a device.
