    Question CopyShop Experience

I have a customer who runs a small copy-shop. Owner is also a friend.
At the end most of them become friends

    In his shop he has:
    iR7105 + 2 x CLC5151 + iRC4580i + 2 x 5570
    2 x iPF820 + iPF755 + iPF8000s
    SmartLF Cx40e Scanner + KIP5000 + Offline Folding System.
I made him a Color Copy System with the scanner and one of the 820.
He is also using SCP DaylightRIP for printing in all LFP's including KIP and he is satisfied with this solution.

He is the kinda guy that wants to have the latest products and solutions at his store (I really admire his passion).
From time to time I sit with him and discuss about what device he will upgrade next etc etc...

He is asking me what other Copy Shops (globally thinking) are using in software & hardware.
Mostly he is interested in software?

like unified control or device management or universal drivers ...

Anyone has to share some experience ?

We use a really great wide format RIP from Onyx called production house. It will drive multiple printers and cutters, is easy to calibrate and profile media, and has a wonderful media saver for job nesting. We do a lot large murals for trade shows and lobby displays, and allows very easy tiling. Also, consider a good pre flight system from Onyx called prep edge. This will instantly notify you when of any file issue before you print. This is a great wide format pre-press tool, as it eliminates a lot of expensive wasted material. Onyx is a great company with fantastic support.

Have not tried Vue yet, but will look into it....

the daylight RIP does a pretty good job in my opinion for processing high end jobs going to the large format printers. And I must say being a pay for print he has a pretty good mix of equipment. One of former bosses opened up a pay for print about 10 years ago and within the past 12 months he has dumped his presses and bought both an IP-6000VP and an IP-1135 both with saddle finishers and trimmers and Feiry RIP's 3100 on the color and J200 on the B/W. And then on the store front side he bought the new IRA-9075 and IRA-8105 both with Image Pass options for printing.

He manages all of his jobs using the CWS 5 loaded on the 3100 and is using the impose and compose software that was bundled with it.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

    thnx guys !

Customer is already using CS5. But the free one. Not bundled with impose and compose.
I have explained to him the nice features of IMP+COM but together they cost a bit. He already has some staff who does the job of IMP+COM among other jobs. But I believe in the future he might invest in these.

By the way : his dream is the VP series (6000 or 7000)
Just too expensive for him right now..

Its always worth the investment in the end. You need the capabilities and flexibility to be able to do a proper job
