    IR2200 tray 1+2 lift broken.....fix or replace??

    Hey guys:
Got an Imagerunner 2200 with no lifting joy for trays 1+2. Trays 3+4 lift okay.
Is there a way to fix the lift mech., rather than replacing the entire PF unit?
GOT SERVICE MANUAL? PLEASE PM me with it if I can indeed order the individual parts for the PF assy.

pull out unit/ check if ratchet gear is cracked/broken !

check if Main Motor M1 is turning-M1 drives the Cassette lifter up
Check the on signal for the Main Motor from the DC controller @ J308, Pin 9. If the signal is present, try to turn the motor on in Part Check. COPIER>FUNCTION>PART-CHK>MTR-ON code 1 for M1. If the Main Motor does not turn on replace M1

also make sure /solenoid SL1 is not blocked & working

And, where would I find a parts manual/service manual? It's a billable machine, the cust. would have to decide to fix the prob. before I pull it apart, etc. I can tell you I get no 'click-click' noises when I close trays 3,4.
I know this isn't the place to post SM requests.

at a charge call without any manuals to repair it???? a new costs $470 from Canon and I'm sure you can used one for less, but these units have been a sore spot since the machine was released.

Thanks charm, and teckat - the motor def. turns ( I can hear it, I'm not deaf YET) so it's prob. the gear you specify. Looks like fun taking it apart...price on that unit is $999 to the customer. They're awfully proud of it, I'd say!

how does the customer expect u to diagnose the issue without inspection ??
    Do u have x-ray vision ??

u need to inspect the lifter_do 1&2 make any noise ??

they don't always make noise when damaged

Um....I've already diagnosed the problem, they need parts. Now, thanks to you two, I know what to look for, gotta be this or that: stuck solenoid (not real likely) or two broken lift ratchet gears (most likely broken by a frustrated customer due to feed sep. rollers being toast and jamming a lot).
Once they decide they want to throw money at it, then we proceed. SOP for billable machines.

OOPS I meant trays 1,2, not 3,4. But no sound but motor, I'm not sure I'm getting that initial SL click, so disassembly is def. next. But not for free of course!! XD

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
