Canon ImageRUNNER 2220i - scan to email ?'s

Hello,

I have customer who wants to be able to scan to email on a Canon ImageRUNNER2220i. The copier has a static IP and is used primarily as a copier/networkprinter. I called the company who "supports" this unit and they assured me that it is able to perform this function. I am planning on creating a Comcast email address (who is also their ISP) and using it as the copier's email address (external smtp server).

My first question is, can the scan to email feature be set up on the unit, itself, using the touch screen UI, or is it easier to use the remote UI? I tooka quick look at it the last time I was on location but realized I needed to dosome research first. Does anyone have directions on setting this up?

As of now I know I will need the Comcast email account that I will dedicate tothe copier, as well as: Comcast's SMTP server's address, possibly the usernameand the password on the email account, their DNS server address and domain name(since they're their ISP could I just go to a workstation on network and justdo an ipconfig /all?). Is this correct?

At the copier:
Additional Functions-> System Settings-> E-mail/I-Fax Settings.

From the RUI: Enter copier's IP address in web browser-> Additional Functions-> Custom Settings-> E-Mail/I-Fax

SMTP Server -
Enter your Exchange server's Ip address E-mail Address-
Enter any e-mail address, example ourcopier@mydomain.com (this will show up as the sender)
POP Server- Leave blank
POP Address- Leave blank
POP Password- Leave blank
Auth./Encryption
User/Password- Valid user/pass for exchange server
Allow SSL[SMTP]- if applicable
If you need to change the SSL port it is done in service mode.

Scan to email
1- SMTP server u can name ( mail.myisp.com ) or ip address
2- Default Gateway
3- DNS server address
4- A valid email address must be assigned to the machine put the address in both the machine address and the administrator address locations
5- If they are on a Domain put the domain in the DNS Domain ( mycompany.com ) After entering all of the above correctly reboot machine, and test. The above assumes that your machine is already on the network and you can print and brows to it, and the SMTP does not require Authentication.

I had literally just figured this out (after some trial and error) when your reply rolled in!

I was not turning the machine off/then back on, so my settings were not taking effect...

Here's what my settings looked like:

I had to disable POP - and like teckat suggested, clear out POP Server, POP Address, and POP Password.

For anyone using Comcast as their IPS - their SMTP Address is: smtp.comcast.net
