This thread is spot on. Considering that many techs joined this field from different background, it should be of immense help to those techs who would like to increase their knowledge and insight into the working of these digital machines.
Of course DIGITAL SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY in itself is a very complex subject, which cannot be exhaustively discussed in this forum. It is covered in Electrical /Electronic Engineering courses in college or university.
As for its application in this field (copier repair), It suffice to know the following:
1- The digital copier came from the Analogue copier.
2- The copies (output) produced by the digital is much more clearer than that produced by Analogue copiers.
In other words, the image processed digitally has NO or less DISTORTION of the original information.
3- The digital machines require very little maintenance, unlike its Analogue predecessors. This also means many techs will find themselves jobless very soon if not already.
4- The information itself e.g texts, photos, graphics, sound etc, which your machine is processing is actually an ANALOGUE SIGNAL. This is because the human the human senses doe snot respond to digital signals but only to Analogue signals.
5-The copy of the document you want to make is merely converted into digital signals for the purpose of processing it, so that there is NO DISTORTION or loss of detail. This work is done by an IC called ANALOGUE TO DIGITAL CONVERTER (ADC).
6- After completion of the digital process, your information is CONVERTED BACK into its original ANALOGUE form, by another IC called DIGITAL TO ANALOGUE CONVERTER (DAC), for the your eyes to see, or ear to listen.
The DIGITAL PROCESSING takes place in your copier's reader pcb and/or Image processor pcb.
I believe ZAZA-2012 and the other 'original' ZAZA are two different people, though from the same country. Meanwhile , let us stick to the issue /topic at hand. The thread was started in good faith. If I have nothing to contribute on this topic, I would rather keep quiet or hold my peace than resort to SLANDER.
Analog vs Digital Copier, Analog = Scan one print one. Digital = Scan one print many (data stored in memory for next purpose). Between Canon's Lover, Let's respect each other.
Years ago all copiers were analogue then digital electronics evolved and digital photocopiers seemed the next logical step.
