Re: CLC5151 Error E540 broken part on finisher

Thanks for the info, I have this info form the manual but i'm sure they could describe it a little more clearly, what is "paper surface detection operation" I find it a little hard to understand, maybe it's just me tho!?

Went back today & ran a test print & it threw E542-8002 on the first sheet.

If I power the machine off & on the trays move up & down fine, the error came BEFORE the paper entered the finisher.

I took the finsher inside cover off, checked the actuator I replaced a few days before, all looks fine, put it all back together ran prints & copies using both trays no error.

Bit strange, bet this one comes back in if it does i'll leave the machine in limited function mode & hope customer doesn't notice..............

I've not heard of that, I did look to see if I could adjust the tray closer to the actuator but it looks fixed. Funny as it has been working fine before the customer broke the actuator!

    found it>>>>>>>>>>>E540 8002
In this case the finisher tray was too far away to actuate the sensor.
By loosening the tray cover screws and moving the tray closer to the finisher frame corrected the error code.
Below is a picture of the finisher tray with arrows pointing to the screws

Cheers teckat, like I said I looked at this but the tray seemed fixed with no adjustment but I'll give it a try if/when the code returns!!!

Check the plate which holds the sensor - maybe it has been bent slightly while replacing part - only has to out by 1mm.

Went back to this one again today E842-8002, seems to happen once every 2-3 days, customer has been putting up with it but they are getting annoyed by it!

Loosened the tray screws & tried to move the try forward, also slighty bent the sensor bracket.

I left it working will have to wait now see if it comes back................................
