    oops

Is the parallel port on the laptop set for ECP printing support? This is one of the most common reasons for the 145-timeout error on the support tool. ECP is set-up in the bios of the computer. The support tool WILL NOT WORK if ECP printing is not enabled. Nuff said.
Like the United States Postal Service It's a miracle it works!

Yes, it is! I have double checked it. ECP is set in the BIOS.

Sure. Thanks to "yourownfree". He posted this link earlier (the password is: yourownfree):

I hope, there is a backup image of HDD. I will download it, does not matter, how big it is. Please, help...
I can not format HDD, as I don't have exactly 20 Gb model here. I got 40 Gb Hitachi HDD (model: DK23EA-40), which is not in the list of the Firmware's HDFormat section. There is a *.itf file with the list of HDDs, but my Hitachi is not listed there.

    Hejsan..
As you know it's hard to find exact HDD so you can try to put your HDD model in the .ift file
first you have to copy paste HDD model with same capacity then edit the model with your
it works many times for me
    good luck

Actually, sometimes it tries to start a formatting process (without complaining about Hitachi 40 Gb HDD), but fails with different error codes (I can't remember all of them). Can I format them manually, when this drive is connected to my PC (using USB to IDE adapter)? I tried this thing, and made 3 partitions (2 Gb each) and formatted them with the FAT16, and one more big partition - about 10 Gb (but didn't format this last one). I left another 20 Gb unpartitioned. Then I connected it to iR3300 and tried to upload "All" in the SST. The process started (machine display showed "downloading...") and at the end this sign changed with "download failed". There was en error in the SST windows as well, that the process could not be finished properly. What a hell is goin' on? I'm lost...

Can not format HDD - iR3300

I tried many times to format HDD from SST 3.35e, but nothing happens. Either there is a timeout (145 code), or something else. I'm reading the SST manual, but it does not help. As I found out, the only way to format HDD is via Bi-Centronics cable. What is a "Bi-Centronics"? I got a normal centronics cable, which is used to connect my desktop PC to my old HP LaserJet 6L (it's still alive :-))

When I tried network mode (with fixed IP), it didn't work. I gave to the laptop the following IP|: 172.16.1.5 (as the manual says that the machine has a default IP 172.16.1.100). Then tried "Network" mode, instead of "Bi-Centronics", but no luck again. Could you please, give instructions to me (of course, if anyone from you is familiar with this problem).

Maybe some of you have this type of printer/copier. I would be grateful, if you could give me cloned HDD image. In this case, I would write it to an empty HDD, to avoid SST

What works on a 3300 for me

I have never had the SST update using a network cable work. It may for some, but not for me. The other issue (I think) is you need to use the NetHawk cable not a standard centronics. Maybe others have had better luck - but the NetHawk is what I use.

Other issue is I have not been able to get the 2200/3300 to accept just any HDD. What we do here is just order the exact same model from a source other than Canon. Saves us a hassle.

Thanks man! I will try to get this "NetHawk" Cable and a driver for this one. What about HDD? There is a list of HDDs in the *.itf file. Is that OK, if I order any HDD from this list (20, 30 or 40 Gb models)? Do you think that IDE 2.5" HDDs are easy to find?

it is OK if you can find any HDD from the list but it is not easy to find
if you cant find the same model at least you can find same capacity and then edit the .ift file

HDWN 'FUJITSU MPD3043AT ' (change HDD model)

save it and then try it again
    good luck..

As you are fitting a new HD it has no system on it to start the copier in 1 + 7 mode so you will have to use basic download mode.

Your laptop muxt be running Vista, WinXP or 2k. Win98 or ME will not work very well.
Switch on the copier from the mains switch holding down keys 2 + 8. The screen will be black with download mode on the bottom after a few seconds.
Connect a parrellel cable from the copier to the pc.
Open SST and select Bi-Centronics. The speed will default to slow and cannot be changed.
Select the 3300 system software and it should download fine.
It will be a bit slow but you can't do much about this so get the kettle on.

    Good luck
