    7055 E503-0003

im struggling with this one a little bit… has anyone experienced this before? any suggestions?
its an intermittent error that happens once or twice a day. I put limited functions mode on to shut the finisher off and the error stops appearing.

I swapped out the punch controller pcb assembly and had a new error pop up
    505-0002
so I put the original PCB back in.

I was super careful with the PCB when I changed it out, and pretty sure that I didn’t damage it. is there an installation step with the PCB that I was missing?

ive also ordered an integration unit controller PCB but it hasn’t arrived yet.

any advice the forum could give would be awesome, thanks.

Did you inspect communication between Finisher and copier? (and professional puncher)
Check connector on the integration unit controller, connector on the professional puncher
    controller.
    Practice makes perfect
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
A picture is worth a thousand words
If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself

    not with a multi-meter,

but other wise all connections appear good and intact.

*also this error has been popping up every day since the machine was installed (five months ago) i only just found out about it last week.

is it possible that the machine was set up incorrectly?

E505-0002 on a new board means you have to do sensor init and set the number of punches
Some new finisher controllers also pop a code untll you do the adjustments.

Put the new board back and do the adjustments

E505-0002 error code locks me out of this menu i thought?

    settings/ registrations button right?

is there a chance this could be firmware related?

    BUMP.

Revisiting this problem. Thought that i had it fixed without replacing the Punch Controller PCB... looks like i was wrong

Does anybody know where in service mode i perform a sensor initialization for the punch unit? Adjust the number of punches?

While at this point i have completely stripped and rebuilt this model of machine a couple of times, i haven't officially been trained on this model and Canon Tech Support is reluctant to assist me.

Any help will be appreciated, save me from searching through the service manual.

    Thanks heaps.

    Unhappy Re: 7055 E503-0003

    From my manual

    .
    5.3.1.2 Sensor Output Adjustment
0023-7182 Perform this adjustment when replacing the punch controller PCB, transmittance
sensor (photosensor PCB/LED PCB), or deflection sensor (scrap full
    detector PCB unit).
    1) Check that the power of the host machine is off and then remove the rear
    cover of the puncher.
    2) Set SW601 on the punch controller PCB as shown below.
    F-5-1
    3) Turn on the power of the host machine.
    4) Press SW602 on the punch controller PCB. Sensor output is adjusted automatically
    when the switch is pressed.
Adjustment is complete if LED601 and 602 on the punch controller PCB
    flashes alternately.
    5) Press SW602 or 603 on the punch controller PCB to end the adjustment
mode and set all bits of SW601 to OFF.
    6) Turn off the power of the host machine.
5.3.1.3 Registering the Number of Punch Holes
0023-7183 This operation registers which puncher unit is attached to the IC on the punch
driver PCB so that the puncher unit can be identified by the finisher. For this
reason, this operation must be performed when the punch driver PCB has
    been replaced.
    1) Check that the power of the host machine is off and then remove the rear
    cover of the puncher.
    2) Set SW601 on the punch controller PCB as shown below.
    F-5-2
    3) Turn on the power of the host machine.
    4) Press SW602 on the punch controller PCB to select the number of punch
    holes.
The items in the following table are displayed repeatedly from top to bottom
    each time SW602 is pressed.
    T-5-3
    5) Press SW603 on the punch controller PCB. The number of punch holes is
registered to the punch controller PCB each time the switch is pressed.
Registration is complete if LED601 and 602 on the punch controller PCB
    flashes alternately.
    6) Press SW602 or 603 on the punch controller PCB to end the adjustment
mode and set all bits of SW601 to OFF.
    7) Turn off the power of the host machine.
