this is from the canon forum. I have also seen the primary hvt unit thats in the rear of this machine have corroded contacts to the primary corona unit. You must remove the unit to clean it. Its not that hard.

leakage
inspect your primary assy. if it is soiled clean it, or replace it. Look for a dog or human hair or fuzz on the corona wire dangling. make sure the assy has good contact and you have it locked in place. It cant just be pushed in, it needs to lock. did you restring the corona wire and did not cut off extra wire at either end? check to make sure the connections on the hvt are ok
T601,J723 and J731 remove and reconnect. Also check for soiled cable or cable ends, clean. Check for foreign matter where the Primary plugs in. check and clean the primary grid. I have seen cleaning solutions be conductive. Alcohol 90% is your best bet. I know what they say about window cleaner because of the ammonia in it, i have never had any results that i am aware of from using it. I've seen triplicate paper cause more damage to a drum. but I sometimes use it to remove the ozone junk from the grid, then clean off with alcohol to remove the cleaner. Everybody has their own way of doing things. Probably just replace the primary assy and you will be ok. If you pull out the primary, leave it out and start the machine up with the interlock and are in doubt that the primary is not working, you can see the high voltage and hear it where the primary plug meets the inside back of machine. I don't recommend it but, guaranteed it will give you an error 65 and you will know if it is the hvt or primary assy. Look at it this way, its already leaking anyway and could be arcing to the drum.

I'm not a tech. Any suggestions for a "dummy" to fix this error?
