    NP6560 wityh copy quality problem

Here's the copy as it looks when it came out of the Canon NP6560 from either of the two main LTR trays. I had fixed something like this years ago but I can't quite remember what the solution was, does anybody remember what caused this problem in these amorphic silicon boxes?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ron

does the blank area travel on continuous copies ??
if stationary -check the reflecting plate-(bent)

    Check the scanner rail/scanner cable

what happens on reduction & enlargement copies

CHECK THE GRID WIRE / make sure it is tight & clean from any oil from fingers

The problem does not travel at all but I suspect that it's a clutch or paper feed issue more than an optical problem. The funny thing is that I've also seen it on a ir5020 copier in the past and have solved it, but I just can't quite remember what I did. It had something to do with the verticle feed section of the paper path. I think that one of the rollers is cramming the paper against something and slightly crumpling the paper so that . . . oh wait. I think that last time I solved it by changing the sep or transfer corona voltage. ?Maybe? but still the paper does appear to have been slightly bent and that was more of a band-aid fix. Any body else seen this?

That's what I thought too. It looks as though you've got a clutch (could be any of the clutches before registration), that's overdriving, scrunching the trail edge of the paper so that the paper isn't flat, and so, not transferring properly in that area. Look for a roller that's ~102mm wide in the center of the paper path.

Or ... the paper itself just isn't flat in the tray.

Maybe just really really moist paper? Did you flip the paper around another way?

What happens if you emergency stop the paper before it gets to the fuser? My guess is that you'll see that the paper isn't flat, and there is some un-transferred image still on the drum in that unique shape.

You can rule out the fuser drive. The paper size must be letter-R or longer to be in the bite of the fuser rollers and also still transferring at the same time. =^..^=

EDIT: I just had another thought (that's twice this week). Maybe the bed belts are stretched out and stalling, or the transport fan is stopped. If you key the front door you can watch the motion of the belts and the paper passage.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I believe this is true, so come Monday I'll throw a fresh pack of paper into this copier before I start to follow through with the rest of your suggestions. Thanks!
