    Canon ir1022if network issue

I have a Canon ir1022if that responds very weird on LAN connection. When I access Remote UI interface, I'm able to browse only few of the options in the menu. I managed to configure it to send documents on email but every time I access again the Remote UI web interface, after few clicks gradually the page is not responding any more. First, some embeded images are not displayed and then the page turns unresponsive.
    The browser displays this message:

    Code:
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.
I'm able to access again the web interface after I turn off/on the equipment, but only for few clicks more.
As long as the send conf are done, I can send scanned emails but I cannot access the interface.
The panel is working fine, being able to do all the configurations from there, but it is almost impossible to enter many email adresses using it.
I need to setup almost 100 email addresses but i managed to set only 2 of them.
Is there anything that i can do to make it functional again?
    Thanks

wich version of firmware do you have in it? ever tried full reset by service mode? brand new in 1st customer? reused from another customer? first of all i would update the firmware, i've had alot of those with weird problems solved by simply updating, the early firmwares were very buggy, you will need SST the newest you can get your hands on and just flash it twice, had a couple of those that the first flash didn't fully correct the problem but the second did, hope it helps

Check to make sure that the interface connectors within the device are fully seated, particularly the purple wiring harness that connects the LAN (ethernet) BOARD to the main board.

    Re: Canon ir1022if network issue

I'm very happy to see so many solutions in such a short time. We have this Canon device for a long time, around 2007 aquisition, but it has been used mainly as a copier, with less than 25.000 copies so far.
    1. I have checked the connection of the purple cable and everything is fine there.
    2. I have also used many internet browsers and the result was the same, only the message was different. My main workstation is a linux box (Mint 14 if this is relevant, Firefox and Chrome), but I have tried also on a Windows 8 workstation and the same thing happens.
    3. I did a factory reset accessing service mode but there was no improvement after that.
    4. Regarding the fw reflash solution, there are some things that I need to understand first:
    - do I need to use a certain version of SST?
    - where are stored the fw binaries used for reflashing?
    - what kind of connection do I need for fw reflash (USB, else)?
I already tried to flash using SSTv201E but I didn't succeed to do this because I couldn't connect to the device using this software.
I know that this is a paid software, but ... is there any possibility to find a greater version of SST, if this is necessary.

    Thanks alot

When using the SST, select "#DOWNLOAD" in the service mode to place the main unit in the download mode.

When updating the version of Boot (boot program) and System (main controller) at the same time, make sure to first update Boot.
If you start by updating System, the unit may not start up

    Re: Canon ir1022if network issue

This equip will reside on a private LAN (no internet access), indeed because of the security constraints.
I couldn't apply all the steps you listed above because I don't have all the tools I need. I have a SST ver 201 but I think that this is not sufficient. This app is not recognizing the equipment, although is well installed, using usb connection.
I have also noticed that big scanned documents (2-3 MB) are sent very slow on the network (using email function).
It is well configured for this function, being able to receive scanned documents.
The problem is still when I try to make any changes using RUI. Few clicks and then gone.
I have changed patch cords, switches, reset it several times according to the service manual for this series (1018/1019/1022/1023), but no luck.

    Re: Canon ir1022if network issue

hi, for that model you will need the most recent SST available ( not mandatory but just to rule out other problems, latest by canon is 4.72ek if i´m not wrong) then you will need the correct firmware version for your equipment ( believe is 68.01 for european languages) a laptop, printing drivers according to your operating system, a USB 2.0 A-B cable and then follow teckat's procedure, the part responsable for printing and scanning is "PCL" just reflashed a "slow" one yesterday and worked great as usual, if you can't get SST and the firmware PM i can get it for you but i demand a payment in return (that you contribute to the forum somehow, i will not help those who only demand and request but those who also help others and contribute with opinions and ideas)

    PING IT

    GO TO CMD PROMPT

    type

PING xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -t after the ip address hit the space key......then a dash - then small t very important. Look at the responses , if they are long or some time out. you have a network problem.

Hook up a laptop with a crossover cable and try it. Get the network out of the equation. If all is well,then........tell their IT to sort it out
