    IR 3245 fixing film failures??

I have a IR3245 that keeps having a premature failure of the fixing film (E-000007) about every 20K - 40K. The last time we replaced the whole assembly and it failed after 43K. I have a number of 3045's that make it to 100K approx. Any ideas would be helpful.

    Hello,

Replace the film by a genuine one and move the machine to another place because this issue may be caused by a bad ground level.

i went thru the same thing, it was uneven pressure from the pressure screws, had tons of failures then checked the pressure screws and the pressure was uneven, there was an earlier post that had the procedure for checking the pressure, do a nip check in service mode and you will find the pressure being uneven, hope this helps

The fixing assembly has been replaced and the issue is still the same.

Known issue on these machines. If nip,etc is ok,check the mount brackets the fixing assembly mounting screws go into. These brackets are secured by two screws with red Loc-tite on them. Make sure these brackets are centered in their locating holes and straight and perfectly vertical. If not, crack the screws loose and adjust it. If they look centered and film walks to rear of machine, raise the rear bracket about 1 mm. Also make sure there is white grease on inside ends of film where it rotates on the black plastic holder. A dab of white high temp grease helps if dry

If the fuser film is tearing at edge, causing E0007, I would check copier is level both side to side and front to back.
place spirit level on glass and level.
Had few issues film tearing as machine not level .

the rear screw that applies pressure between the fixing film and the pressure roller can become stripped. This creates uneven pressure which then causes the film to track improperly until it tears and generates a E007 code.

workaround is to replace the stripped screw with a longer screw or replace the fuser assembly. Also, do not overlook the screw hole in the metal making sure the threads are intact.

You will also get a wrinkled LFR from what I've been running into.
