How to identify if it is a 3380i or just a 3380?

Is there a difference that can tell a 3380i from 3380 without starting the machine?

Color imageRUNNER C3380i/C2880i, the machine is equipped with the PCL Printer function as standard, therefore you do not need to activate this option.

    Copier Models: Supported Print Controllers:
    imageRUNNER C3380i / C2880i - PCL Printer Kit -Q1 (standard)
    - PS Printer Kit -Q1 * (optional)
    - imagePASS J1 ** (optional)
    imageRUNNER C3380 / C2880 - PCL Printer Kit -Q1 (optional)
    - PS Printer Kit -Q1 * (optional)
    - imagePASS J1 (optional)

    * PS Printer Kit-Q1 requires that PCL Printer Kit-Q1 and iR 512MB Expansion RAM-C1 be previously installed.

** Requires the optional Open Interface Board on the 'i' models.

Without starting the machine the only way is the name plate on the front of the machines, all of them - both the 'i' and non 'i' - come with Ethernet connectors so the eng. can flash firmware to them.

If you start the machine press the count check button, lower left will give you the model and serial number, there will also be a button on the LCD for device config.

like mjarbar said only by the name in the front door since their only nottable difference is the send/ i-fax function, but can only see that with it turned on

Re: How to identify if it is a 3380i or just a 3380?

Front doors on printers are not reliable on resales or online purchases/

I Would also Look at Serial Number Plate /

    Serial Numbers

    iR C3380i

    120V F14-7722-000 TXP
    230V F14-7742-000 TXU
    230V EUR F14-7792-000 TXS

    iR C3380
    100V F14-7711-000 TXL
    120V F14-7732-000 TXN
    230V F14-7741-000 TXT
    230V AU F14-7781-000 TXV
    230V EUR F14-7791-000 TXR

To print the serial number (along with other information): 1. Enter Service Mode by hitting Additional Functions, 2 and 8 simultaneously, and then Additional Functions.
    2. Hit COPIER.
    3. Select FUNCTION.
    4. Select MISC-P.
    5. Select P-PRINT.
    5. Hit OK.

    NOTE:
Change from PATA HDD to SATA HDD.
    Servicing Work:
[Action to be taken when there is a need to replace HDD]
    1. If the HDD encryption board (HDD Encryption PCB Assembly: FM2-9158) is not used, refer to "1. How to install SATA Hard Disk Drive (w/o encryption function)" below and replace the HDD.
    2. If the HDD encryption board (HDD Encryption PCB Assembly: FM2-9158) is used, refer to "2. How to install SATA Hard Disk Drive (with encryption function)" below, replace the HDD, and then install the encryption board for SATA HDD.
    * As for parts needed to be prepared before work and the description of work, see each procedure document.
    A. Serial numbers of copiers in which the old type PATA HDD was installed at factory shipment and the type of HDD to be used for service work
*If the right column shows "*PATA", the model needs to have *PATA HDD installed at replacement.

the only problem his he wants to ID them without turning them on so all good point outs to check on service or check for certain options become useless if their turned off, of course that the S/N check on the back plate is a good one but online could be not so trustable also, i guess it will all be a risk without turning them on
